Description Charismatic. Ego driven. Brilliant. Narcassitic. Hi diddle diddle. What do these qualities have in common? Answer: They are all best to describe Edward Nygma: The Riddler, and more importantly, Gotham's intellectual superior. Who makes his presence known in the DC Unlimited, and is still driven to best Batman. Whether it be as an arch enemy or as a rival detective. Only The Riddler is crazed and ego driven enough to try and battle wits with The Batman

Part of the DC Unlimited, and celebrating Nygma's return to the silver screen in 2022, The Riddler's backstory plays from his multiple eras from multiple eras. Starting with golden age, 1966, zero year, and arkham interpitations, along with criminally underrated 2004 The Batman series and The Animated Series. Edward Nygma's origin here is goes as follows: Born Edward Nash in the town of Waterbury, an overly curious child who annoyed just about anyone with his undending queries. Especially his abusive father. Deciding to be the one with all the answers, even if it meant forming the question's himself. His father would mock him for this determination, calling him a moron with every chance given. Nygma obsession would be triggered further as a teacher announced a class contest who would solve the puzzle fastest. Nygma would win of course. However that didn't please his father, knowing that Edward hit him for lying. However Nygma's father proved to be right, as he did break into the school and solved it under one minute. With his cheating rewarded, Edward began to develop a superiority complex which would be further expand as he grew older. Working under slack jawed idiots like Daniel Mockridge, and Gorman. Ultimately he was fired from both parites, and started a life of crime, doning a green suit with question marks calling himself The Riddler.

In the DC Unlimited, The Riddler's historic battles with Batman are canon ranging from all media he's appeared in, including Zero Year, Arkham Asylum and to an extent City. In this timeline, he's aided not only mechanical drones, or henchmen who work for him under various gangs and rogues, but is accompanied by two assistants: Echo and Query. Who at one point tried to rob The Riddler, but was convinced of working for him thanks to smooth talking and quirky personality. They also serve as The Riddler's moral compass as much as Robin does to Batman. After a string of defeats at the hands of Batman, and his compulsion to tip off Batman. Even as going far attempting to reform himself and start his own private eye agency, with both assistance aiding him. But because of said compulsion these reforms never seem to last for a long period of time, as his ego will never allow it.

One of Batman's smartest villains, The Riddler will stop at nothing until he's proven himself as Gotham's superior, and until Batman's good as dead.
