I like it so far. I think it feels more of a homage to the original MMPR season than Megaforce ever tried to be - mostly because it feels more slice-of-lifey, balancing the action with the funny/strange moments.

That's great.
I think for me anyway and this is more of a nitpick, it kind of feels a little rushed, heck they introduced the sixth ranger on the 8th episode for crying out loud, they didn't even wait until around the halfway mark for that.

Here's a little trivia for you on Mr Burley,
during development of Megaforce an idea for Mr Burley was that he was instead supposed to be Tommy from the original Power Rangers.

yeah, the legendary battle is only like a minute and a half in PR but stretched to about five minutes in the original sentai

Super Megaforce.... sucks even more. They had several opportunities to make the anniversary worth while, and they missed it all! Even the Legendary War was SO underwhelming!

I'm not who you asked, but I can see why someone might love the returning characters and still be underwhelmed:

1) Only doing half of Goseiger's and Gokaiger's story means everything was rushed through. A jumble of events instead of something more coherent. Since we can't have Gokaiger's adaptation fall on the 20th year anyway, a full series with Goseiger footage and then a full series with Gokaiger footage would have made for two better shows.

2) It was great to see those past characters again, but if their appearances had been spread out through the season and each one had gotten to do more it would have been even better. Even accounting for budget and availability - both less with PR than with sentai - it could have been better on that score. For example, Nic Sampson (Chip from Mystic Force and the Sentinel Knight from Overdrive) regularly voices monsters of the week. Putting his characters in doesn't sound hard. Also, Deker shared an actor with Cole. Would having him do his hair differently, put on a red jacket, and film one or two more scenes as Cole once his Samurai role was done have been that hard?

3) Many non-PR sentai suits were shown while many actual PR suits were not. A lot of great Gokaiger footage of suits (and villains!) that Power Rangers fans know and love hit the cutting room floor in favor of ones that meant nothing to us.

It's things like this that give fans the feeling that the producers really didn't care.

And I say that as someone who doesn't hate Megaforce like many do. The good things I can say about it:

*I adored Jake and Noah.
*Good use of original footage.
*Rangers who are not wearing red can actually be important, unlike Samurai.
*Chemistry between the Rangers was good. They were fun to watch together.
Better chemistry between the characters than its predecessor also. Any time an episode featured two Rangers instead of one, they were fun to watch together.
*Tensou was adorable. Bonus points for making the time he got out and about in the world a Super Megaforce episode: They got creative and used him in a way his counterpart wasn't used in an era his counterpart wasn't in.
*Connecting the series like the old days. The last Megaforce and first two Super Megaforce were just like the old transition episodes, and were epic. The feeling of the stakes being upped... you had to get chills when Gosei sounded close to panic. At the point in Goseiger when the episode's conflict had ended and everyone relaxed, he sees something we don't and can only shout "Morph! Morph! MOOOOOOORPH!" I was on the edge of my seat.
*Original footage battles show the PR makers can do them just as well as the sentai guys. Two stand-outs include the first battle on the Animarium as Wild Force - it looked as good as the Gokaiger footage, and they used Wild Force's fighting style and things like those 'dragging' attacks. Another is the second battle in Blue Saber Saga before 'going super mega.' There were times they didn't just use the old suits as a two-second formality but really used the Megaforce stuff to its fullest.
*Not turning the Gokaigers' bullets into lasers. I actually never minded the change in seasons like SPD - fans started hating lasers and thinking bullets were cooler purely because it's a form of censorships inflicted on kids' shows. Take Star Wars. Not a bullet or a metal blade to be found, yet blasters and lightsabers are the coolest things ever! Pew pew pew! Zzzzt, choom, choom! Well... I can't bring myself to be angry that sci-fi heroes still have sci-fi weapons even if it was forced on them... *but* I appreciate guts. Whoever said during Samurai "Adding a laser effect isn't enough, we have to digitially paint out all the grunts' gun barrels so it looks like they have no openings" now said "leave it alone, kids won't turn into crazed lunatics if we don't do that with the heroes." Color me impressed!
*Even if the past Rangers could have been better utilized, every second your favorite is onscreen again is like a dream. Bonus points for Tommy using Saba at first and being back in green later! Also, if you haven't checked out the extended edition of the finale, do! Characters who didn't get moments of Doing Something do, and some who did had them extended!
*Some of the characters' reappearances give us tantalizing new things to think about. Is Casey dead? How's Tommy back in green?

1) The stretching was to help Justin protect his secret identity. Plus, it helped with transitioning from PR-footage to SS-footage.
2) Animus was naive and uneducated about how the world has grown in 3000 years. There's a reason why his human representation is a child.
3) it's one of the few times when PR-exclusive weapons were made.
4) I Did enjoy that "protein shake" bit that Lothor had after Cam became a ranger.
5) Well, he is technically a prince, so it'd only fit the stereotype.
6) Can't comment on Nadira. I didn't watch her season in its entirety.
