Carol Tessle was once an ordinary housewife from the 1950s. Day in and day out she would perform the same routine expected of her by her husband. As her life began to grow ever more despondent, she secretly started practicing exhibitionism to get some excitement in her daily routine. Things sadly got worse for Carol when her husband found out. Without any thought or compassion, he kicked her out.

As poor Carol was about to commit suicide, she was abducted by a race of aliens known as the Extrons. They offered to ease Carol's pain and give her true enlightenment all at the cost of her humanity. Without any options, Carol reluctantly agreed.

Thus began her transformation into Xtra, from losing her hair and even her teeth to gaining telepathic and empathetic abilities. She became a powerful clairvoyant that could subdue any foe without violence or physical force.

Yet, there was one thing that kept Xtra grounded in humanity; the love for the daughter she left behind, Kimberly. With the realization of the folly of the society she of which once a part and the fear of what her beloved child would become in the the coming turbulent times, she returned to Earth with the hope of retrieving her.

After that, Xtra would spend many decades traveling the stars. It would only be after a new crisis arose when she would finally return again to Earth.
