Description I can't say the things I would do to be able to paint like him. I wish he would make a Patreon with tutorials so I could give him all my money.

I did learn more than I did last time I studied Nababa. Specifically, how I can use different layer modes to get the colors he has here.

Β

I started out this way, but pretty quickly had to go to normal mode to get the edges right. I also made a textured brush in manga studio that worked really well for both getting a soft or hard edge, but still replicated Nababa's small color variations.

The original reference is here:Β Drawing of 2015

If anyone has any tips that might help, let me know.

Thanks man. I've been a fan of your 3d renders for a while too.

It was just a study of a much better artist though. Eventually I hope to be able to do it myself.

Don't strive to be the next Nababa.
Strive to be the next you.

Thanks! Now to actually try to replicate this stuff in my own drawings. That's where it gets hard.Β

Indeed, it takes forever to know how to pull something from like that from imagination! But you're gonna make it one day!

Good job on colors! I like the skin and body.

Couple things tho. Eyes a bit too big, especially the back one. And hard edges aren't hard enough(especially on ther jacket). Lips are a bit symbolic, you see a lot more anatomy in nababa's pic.

Thanks. Yeah, I had a hard time with the lips, and my brush was a little better at soft edges than hard. I think I can fix that by turning down the texture intensity some. I actually had the eyes too small at one point and liquefied them larger. Maybe I overdid it.Β
