Optimus Primal (also just Optimus) is a bot with big dreams. He wishes to one day ascend to the rank of Convoy, the highest rank any Maximal can receive. However, while Optimus is an excellent leader and a great warrior, he is not a perfect tactician or a good shot. Optimus mostly relies on his swords in combat and only uses his shoulder cannons or hidden forearm blasters if the situation turns dire. While he lacks proper coordination, he is still viewed as a hero by his colleagues and a great threat to his enemies.

Currently, Optimus is commander of a small squad of Maximals stationed in the Primal Jungle. He often clashes with the forces of Megatron, who is also his “nemesis”, aka some wannabe villain Optimus always beats. Optimus’ best friend is Rhinox and he views Cheetor as the son he is incapable of having (since he’s a robot). He is also close with Dinobot, but their relationship is more or less of a “frenemy” level. But Optimus also sees a great Maximal in the former Predacon’s Spark.

Also, he has a jetpack.
