Trinity and Rebecca can only watch helplessly as the brunette's body crumples to the sand. They want to help her, but intervening in an "even fight" would be a major infraction.

Valerie crouches down over her cousin's curled up, heaving body.

"That was your warning, Jennifer," she murmurs. "You're not in Prep anymore. You won't be pampered, and coddled, and adored for your 'incredible potential'."

She leans in closer. "If I ever see you on this beach again, the consequences will be...severe." With that, she walks away.

As Trinity rushes to Jennifer's side, Rebecca scans the beach. At least three dozen other students are watching. Jennifer can only sob and gasp gently into the sand as their soon-to-be classmates whisper, and laugh, and jeer. A few even look like they have sympathy in their eyes...which is even worse.

"Damnit," Rebecca mutters. This is not how this year was supposed to start...
