Description
Inuyasha Meets Ranma!Part 1 here: [link]
I had to do another one. It doesn't make much sense to anyone but me, but I had sooooooooooooo much fun making it.
So this starts off after the end of part 1, where Inuyasha is in human form because of the new moon, and Ranma has just changed back into a guy, hence the poorly drawn pot, water drops, and steam clouds.
They realize how freakishly identical they are in this state, including their voices (Ranma and Inuyasha share the same voice actor in both the original Japanese anime and in the English dubbed version). The boys decide to switch clothes so each can be his own wingman, in a way... They're a bit too chummy and a bit too prideful in their remarks, but the girls are silent until Akane tricks Ranma into admitting his true identity. At this point the girls are a bit peeved at the attempted trickery, so Kagome uses the command "Osuwari" to make Inuyasha prostrate himself involuntarily while Akane splashes Ranma with water, turning him into a girl. Inuyasha is angry with Ranma for the plan and its consequences.
Even though I had a lot of fun with this, there are soooooo many things that bug me. In the first frame, Ranma looks like Hikaro Gosenkugi and Inuyasha looks like Kikyo. Not good. Next, why would Ranma put his arm around Akane? I don't know. He wouldn't. It just felt right. Would Inuyasha grasp Kagome's hands? Maybe... In panel 8 Inuyasha looks like Ranma and Ranma like Inuyasha. I guess that WAS their intention, but not mine! Then female Ranma at the end looks exactly like Kagome but with red hair. Inuyasha definitely would not like that...
Characters:
Inuyasha: half demon, turns human on night of new moon every month, likes Kagome
Ranma: martial artist, turns into a girl when splashed with cold water and back when splashed with hot water, betrothed to Akane, complains but secretly likes her
Kagome: time-travelling student, likes Inuyasha
Akane: martial artist, heir to family martial arts school, betrothed to Ranma, complains but secretly likes him
The characters are from "Inuyasha" and "Ranma 1/2" by Rumiko Takahashi

Ranma's big mistake: Putting his arm over Akane's shoulder. Inuyasha would notΒ be so chummy to a complete stranger, especially a girl.

I really liked this but there's one thing that bugging me: Since when did Ranma EVER said "OMG?" I just seemed a bit OOC (Out of Character), but other then that, it was really great!
I liked how Ranma was basically bragging about himself when he was talking to Akane and Inuyasha was actually kinda letting his feelinga slip by while talking to Kagome.

Aww, thank you so much for the thoughtful comment! I apologize for Ranma being OOC in saying Omg. It made sense in my head because Ranma is always using very informal language and addressing people without honorifics, so an exclamation like "wow" or "amazing" just seemed too formal for Ranma. In looking back, I guess I could have had him say "woah", which may have been less OOC. Oh well. Once again, thank you so much for commenting, and I am so glad that you liked it!

Lol I completly understand it!! XD Since I'm a HUGE ASS InuRan fan! (InuYasha and Ranma 1/2) fan.
Yeah I thought the same thing Ranma and human InuYasha look way too much alike,but I think only 'cause the same person made 'em. As for the voices your uh...half right. In the first couple season in the english dub,Ranma's voice is done by Sarah Strange and then InuYasha's voice acter Ian. Then in the end the OVAS it done by Sarah strange again.
As I was reading through some of the comments I got this to add
Rygoa= Koga
Ukyo= Sango
Akane= Kagome
Ranma = InuYasha
Happy= Myoga
Urhhh...I know there's more 'cause they all look alike,but I'm too lazy to list them all.

jebbifurzz In reply to Pinkbun17 [2010-07-22 02:50:59 +0000 UTC]
Haha yeah you can find all kinds of parallels. But while the characters can definitely look alike, I wouldn't really agree that they act alike. Their situations are pretty different overall, at least in my opinion. Myoga especially, who, as far as I can remember, only notices an attractive female ONCE. Compare this to Happy, lol. XD
Sarah Strange did do Ranma's voice for the first three seasons, the OVAs, and the movies, but I think that still gives Richard Cox more total hours as the voice of Ranma. But probably not by too much... So it all comes down to who you prefer, or which voice you associate more with Ranma's character. I'll probably be hated by lots of people for saying this, but I kind of prefer Richard Cox's voice... *uneasy smile*
Although I've seen a few Ranma episodes dubbed, I watched the entire series in Japanese with subtitles. I tend to watch all anime subbed, because I almost always hate the dubbed versions. I find they lose a lot in translation. Haha, that's a discussion for another place though... But anyway, in the original versions in Japanese, Ranma and Inuyasha have the same seiyu (voice actor) throughout both shows, Kappei Yamaguchi (who is absolutely amazing by the way). If you ever find yourself watching anime subbed, try checking out his other roles. He is totally spectacular. Haha whoops where am I going with this...?
I'm also not the first to come up with this joke. It was used in the Rumic World Opening, which is an official short featuring some of Takahashi's main characters (Ranma, Ataru, Lum, Inuyasha, and Kagome) meeting each other. At one part, Inuyasha tells Ranma he sounds like him, but then they're interrupted by Ataru's antics.
But... Shoot, now I feel like I'm going on a rant or something. I think I'm just a bit too crazy about anime for my own good. Here's what I'm trying to say. Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I really, truly appreciate it. And I'm happy to find another major Inuyasha and Ranma fan, cause those two shows are quite awesome. Have you checked out any other anime/manga by Rumiko Takahashi? Also, if you really liked the Ranma anime, I highly recommend reading the manga from where the anime leaves off, because the manga gives you so many more good stories and actually gives you a conclusion for the story, which is something the anime was definitely lacking.

I've read Ranma's manga three times in full, while for InuYasha I've only skipped around. Though, Akane is stronger in the manga, and Kikyo is a bit nicer. 0-o

jebbifurzz In reply to Pinkbun17 [2013-08-13 16:36:18 +0000 UTC]
Yes, that's definitely true. Β The extent to which Akane's strength was diminished in the anime and films bothered me a lot. Β I didn't much notice a difference in Kikyo's behaviour between manga and anime, but I might be forgetting. Β Kikyo didn't exactly strike me as mean, but I felt like she didn't belong in the story. Β She was just too set apart from everything, and her presence undermined Kagome's character and her role in the story. Β Thanks for the comment! Β

But the comic is genius!

Haha, yeah, I realized that after I made it. This comic is probably the one that makes the least sense, and here's why: I am really really sensitive to coffee, and I drank a measuring cup full of coffee one day to help me stay awake. I suddenly got super hyper, got the idea for this, drew it, colored it, scanned it, all in one day. So my excuse is this: I was under the influence of drugs, lol.

I like it, even if it's poorly drawn
I get the scenario since I'm one of the biggest Ranma fans out there, not to mention fairly familiar with Inuyasha as well.
I have to say one thing about this: Ranma failed
I will agree they both do look somewhat similar, but that's mostly due to Rumiko's drawing style. And if you stare long enough Akane and Kagome also look alike in some ways.
While Ranma and Inuyasha have the same american voice actor, it wasn't always like that. In the beginning of the show upto like episode 69 or something(The Moxibuston arc or when he learns the Hiryu Shoten Ha) Ranma's voice was actually done by someone else before Richard Ian Cox took over the role. Most of the OVAs have that same voice actor too as do the movies. Just thought I should share that bit of info

Yeah the dubbed Ranna was played by Sarah Strange until I think episode 46. But since there are 167 episodes, Richard Cox did play Ranma for the majority of the episodes. What's also hilarious is that Ranma and Inuyasha are played by the same guy in Japanese too. I thought it was just too crazy that Ranma and Inuyasha were voiced by the same guy in both English and Japanese. Also my joke was a bit of a nod to the Rumic World Opening where Inuyasha says to Ranma something along the lines of "Your voice sounds like mine!". If you have not seen it, you should definitely watch it, especially if you are a fan of Rumiko Takahashi. You can find it by typing in "Rumic world opening" on youtube. Enjoy!

Yes, I have seen the Rumic World Opening, I thought it was very funny.
It is weird, but I think they changed Ranma's voice actor for that reason: because in Japan both Ranma and Inuyasha were voiced by the same guy so why not do the same here?

jebbifurzz In reply to Ranmano1fan [2010-04-19 09:25:47 +0000 UTC]
Haha, interesting idea. But Inuyasha didn't start until 2000, while the voice actor change for Ranma happened around 1991. They might have asked Richard Cox back for Inuyasha for that reason, though. My guess as to why Sarah Strange left is that her contract was probably up and she was off to do bigger and better things than dubbing animes. I actually must admit I don't know the real reason, although voice actors do change a lot. In fact, if my memory serves me correctly, I think girl Ranma's voice changed as well. Time to do some research...

I'm lousy with dates. I forgot that Ranma 1/2 came out before Inuyasha and I have noticed quite a few of Ranma 1/2's american voice actors came back for Inuyasha: Kasumi's came back as Kikyo and I believe Dr. Tofu's came back as Miroku, I also think Happosai's came back as Myoga, if there were any more I have no clue, and mind you that's only from hearing the voices and not with any actual data to back it up.
You go do that, but from my memory I don't think "Ranko"'s voice changed. Then again, I could be wrong.
