hello!! i was wondering if you had any tips for buying copics to start out with?? i have around thirty right now and i have no clue how to build up my collection,,

i'd recommend getting them three at a time! having three of the same kind of colour gives you the ability to blend well uvu
make sure the first numbers are the same, and the second shouldnt be more than three to four numbers apart, that ensures theres not too big a gap in colour values (ex. Y11, Y13, Y15 or BG02, BG05, BG08, etc)
by the same kind of colour i mean that there are many different shades and degrees in one colour family, so as you can see i have denim blues (B91, B95, B97, B99) and royal blues(B00, B02, B05); then bubblegum pinks (RV21, 25, 29) and raspberry pinks (RV63, 66, i should have the 69 but i left it out accidentally when i bought them ugh)
you see what i mean? :3c

umm i'll try
water: cool shadow-BG10, moon white-BG11, new blue-BG02, ice ocean-BG72
sand: pearl white-E41, milky white-E51, cream-YR21 (this one will be more orange than the actual colour)
bird: neutral or cool grey no.2, (i don't have either lmao but i do have no.3)
starfish: light prawn-R22
fish: neutral grey no.0
bandanna: garnet-R39 OR lipstick red-R29
dolphin: pale lavender-BV31
flower: prawn-R24, pinkish vanilla-R01 (OR pale yellowish pink-R30)
seaweed: forest green-G17 OR ocean green-G28 will do
keep in mind these are just the colours i own, idk about other colours, some may be more accurate

I once saw a bunch of little kids at a copic marker booth treating markers like crayons
The friction killed me
REGARDLESS
ypur selection is amazing ;; so COLOURFUL
I usually buy natural colours because my designs are mainly natural(black, grey, brown( XD

I WAS GRITTING MY TEETH AND CLENCHING MY FISTS TRYING NOT TO STRANGLE THE HELL OUT OF SOMEONE
ooh haha I usually have a lot of dark blues(speaking of blue I have to refill my sky blues) because ya I use minimal dark colours
lmao one day I gotta go out buy more bright colours like the one time I bought 3 greens for grass lmao
oo you use neutral grey tho? personally uses cold grey :3 not so much into warm grey

id like to see
Have u seen what the cold greys are like because idt I've ever tried out neutral grey's in the shop before??
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
jennawing In reply to Itraka [2015-04-11 08:56:13 +0000 UTC]
idk i don't think i was allowed to try them, but there were colour samples
they're not very different?? cool grey has a bluer tone to it however while neutral grey is literally . grey
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Itraka In reply to jennawing [2015-04-11 09:08:32 +0000 UTC]
ooH I see
warm grey has that brown-ish look to it right
i read that you bought a marker in Japan cost $3-ish in USD?
also that colourless blender brings back memories ahhhh I had no idea how to use it when I was younger other than leave stains on my art lmao did you use the blender in that latest copic piece of yours??
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
jennawing In reply to Itraka [2015-04-11 09:12:17 +0000 UTC]
that's warm grey! uvu neutral grey has no other tones to it, it's just pure grey
i didn't use a colourless blender because i had to use watercolour paper on that drawing. i tried blending different shades of blue as practice before, just in case, and it didn't turn out the way i wanted it to/it was supposed to so i just ditched the idea x'D
i really don't know how to use it oops

Itraka In reply to jennawing [2015-04-11 09:15:57 +0000 UTC]
i have no idea how to use the colourless blender so its like dying of loneliness in a box
i was like 11 when i bought markers + blender
lets say i pity the markers i used because back then my art sucked
also that drawing of April made me cry manly tears because its perf ok
did u use dark green to draw the lines and did u use pencil to sketch beforehand
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
jennawing In reply to Itraka [2015-04-11 09:21:34 +0000 UTC]
yea, darker colour to draw over the lines
i suck and idk what to use for the sketch other than pencil
i don't want to line it with the ink pens i bought bc i wanted different coloured lines
the lead/graphite/pencil lines fucking messes with the colour tho
as i said im 100% noob with copics lmao
