Marvel Animation Character Design, HULK AND THE AGENTS OF S.M.A.S.H., THE GHOST RIDER. Digital.In the Second Season episode entitled, "Spirit of Vengeance," The Ghost Rider makes a guest appearance, and it was my pleasure to redesign this character for the show. Although I only provided the line art then, recently I took the time to complete the piece with a bit of color, and rudimentary special effects. It was a cool-- er-- hot exercise in my ongoing lessons in digital art. I hope you like it, and thank you for viewing. Cheers!

Miss the spikes on the shoulders, but with the ones on the arms it would have been...overspiked.

Yeah, I figured the head and shoulder area were edgy and dangerous enough with the flaming skull, the chains providing a nice frame, while also implying bondage. The sleeve spikes are pleasingly understated.
The focus of the design should adhere to the character and his story, which is, here you have a biker dude with his head replaced by a fiery skull. A fiery skull! Who needs spikes?

True enough, and shoulder spikes serve no purpose other then decoration. He can use those chains and the spikes on his arms.

Loved the episode. We rarely get to see the chance of Ghost Rider showing off and proving his power. If I were to do a Ghost Rider show, best way I'd describe it would be like John Constatine with a bit of Supernatural with the Abrahamic lore.
