Description
- If you ever surrender to them, I'll kill you myself.- I wouldn't have it any other way.
-=-=-=-=-
if you were caught up in the middle of a war, what lengths would you go to for someone you cared about?
For reference: On the right is Raimaru, the Minister of war, head of the Altamaran army (under the Emperor). On the left is his apprentice, a young soldeir named Zeni. Both are fighting for the same side, but there are plenty of reasons why one day one might have to kill the other. This is just one of the risks you run when growing close to someone in the military I imagine.
really, a gun would beat a halberd, but it's Rai's ceremonial weapon so it seemed wrong for him to not be threatening people with it X'D
composition inspired heavily by a doodle I found on ~MochiMoto 's floor 8D

I listened to military themed music a lot of the time I was drawing this. It was epic.

That's a pretty sad thing to think about, that they're both on the same side, but something like this could happen. You did a great job with the drawing, too!

"If you were caught up in the middle of a war, what lengths would you go to for someone you cared about?" I'd sacrifice everything. Comfort, safety, possessions, friendships, even my life if I truly cared for them.
And side note, Though gun vs. halberd is valid that gun may win 9/10 times... I wouldn't want to fight Rai with a dagger while I had a minigun.... O_o
That Atlmaran dude kicks ass. Was actually thinking FedCom may name a weapon after him, because he's so durable, destructive and imposing... But still good.

self sacrifice is easy, but could you kill them? and live with it? ~ (hypothetically anyway)
haha, that's an interesting thought-in your opinion what kind of weapon would Raimaru represent? I'm curious now :3
and damn I really need to write some of my fedcom/altamara story ideas I've been having.

Yes. I could kill those who I would deem 'necessary' to kill, meaning that there are no other options. The only reason I could live with myself after is that I have a philosophy... If I do something to harm another person, or attempt to harm many people and someone kills me... They should not feel bad for killing me... If I am an enemy, it is my every intention to do whatever damage I can to -my- enemy, and I would expect the same in return. I could not forget, however... If I killed someone and found them to be innocent of harm. I would not ever forget or live that down. Had a dream about that, actually... Shot a man and he didn't die right away... So I shot him more to try and speed his death and it still didn't work... Made me feel awful. But if its quick, clean, simple... Then I know it was easy, and I could live with it.
And Rai? AK-47. Or 74. Why? It is the ONLY rifle in the world that has nothing too fancy, nothing too expensive, and is old. Despite these things, it is virtually impossible to break under tremendous strain, is highly adaptable to environments, is one of the EASIEST weapons to clean, is deadly accurate (it's a myth that the AK-47 is inaccurate, and I have proof of this), and can penetrate most of even the thickest of armors worn by the most powerful nations in the world. It is also one of the only weapons that virtually EVERYONE can recognize, and the weapon that will strike fear into its enemies... If not fear, respect: It cannot be ignored. And neither can Rai.
Hence, why the captain would wanna give him one. "It's old, abused, reworked and rebuilt but in terrific shape... it'll take all the abuse you can give it and keep working and never let you down. It reminded me of someone very specific, too. I'd like you to have this as a token of my profound respect, Minister Raimaru." The rifle would be practical, but decorative as well. With polished mahogany grips, and a titanium bolt instead of a steel one.
Engraving would read: "Fortitudo et honor, et virtus ignis est" "Strength and honor, and courage to fire it" (As in Strength, honor, and the fuel for both.) The engraving would be along the silver part of the bolt. When actually fired, symbolically these words would be in action. XD
As a half-joke, the captain would likely also have a bullet made especially for the rifle, with the Altmaran language spelling "Dirga" on the actual bullet. He'd shake the minister's hand respectfully and hand him the bullet, saying "Here's one with your greatest enemy's name right on it: should you ever have to or want to use this."

This is excellent. I want to be more detailed and go on and on about arm placement. But basically; you pulled off a really great piece here, it would make a great and dramatic cover

gosh thank you. Even after years of drawing these guys they still give me trouble with their darn arms. Here I was angsting over how I could have done a better job of it, but you've cheered me up now XD
But yes once again thanks! I'm glad you like it :3
