Alright! Here is AppleJack and Winona. Her hair was cut, red bands were added, hat was constructed and placed, and then her freckles were added. If you would like me explain in detail, comment. I'd be glad to help you!Sorry about the quality; my camera isn't the greatest.

These ponies really make me PO'd. Fluttershy came with Angel, and Applejack came with Winona. Which i thought was AWESOME. Then I find out that the rest come with random animals! Why couldn't Rarity have Opal? And twilight come with Spike? And Pinkie with Gummy?

I felt the same way. Why would Rarity come with a bird? Rainbow Dash with a squirrel? And the hair on most of them is horrendous. Fluttershy's hair is hot pink.

I don't even know what animal Rainbow Dash could've had. So it's forgivable with her, but Pinkie comes with a mouse? Twilight and Rarity with birds!? Come oooon.
And Applejack didn't even come with a hat. Hopefully Hasbro will release some better ones once season 2 comes out. By then they should know that a majority of the fanbase are older people who actually CARE what these things look like. Lol

Apparently, one version of the Applejack toy DID include a cowboy hat... but it was pink.

Yeah! I saw that, but she's also got a little outfit on and just..looks very out of character. Even with the hat, it just doesn't suit her at all.

Yeah, they probably think a majority of people are children, and therefore won't care if it's accurate or not.
But, I've seen a few people saying they've sent in complaints to Hasbro, so hopefully they'll have better toys out when the next season comes out. And you kinda do have to realize that they ARE meant to be played with, so the hair being inaccurate is kind of acceptable. But still. Now that they have a better idea of the demographic(forgive me if that's the wrong word) they should be releasing some better ones.

Exactly. They don't really care about the show and they pretty much see the show as more of an advertisement (which is probably why they're not cracking down on the episodes being uploaded to youtube; they make the bulk of their money off the toys, not the show).
I hope so, too. I can understand why they did that with the toys, but I fail to see how sticking to the show's designs would sell less. 
Yeah, agreed with the hair (although I think having super long, easily tangled hair makes the toy harder to play with).

Yeah, it's probably because the toys would still be selling even without the show. But they're making so much money off the toys because of the addition of the older fanbase, I think.
And, yeah. It'd probably actually sell more considering a majority of the fans are older, they'd probably be more likely to buy them if they were more accurate because not everyone knows how to restyle the hair.
And, again. You do have to remember it's aimed towards children. They don't really care if the hair gets tangled. I would know, since it wasn't that long ago that I was actually playing with stuff like this. Most kids just cut the hair off, anyways. So again, the hair is pretty forgivable.

Yep, MLP always sells. The movies, games, shows, etc. are mostly advertisement.
I agree, the fact that they now have a larger fanbase because of the show probably rakes in even more sales.
That's true, I s'pose. Plus, some little girls probably like the long hair, so they can make hairstyles, like with Barbie dolls. I know I did as a kid. xD

Yeah, I'd always mess with the hair if it was long and wasn't styled already. I'd always get super pissed when my nephews(I've been an aunt since I was 5 years old Lol) or friends would take the hair down.
But, yeah. And another thing about that is, with the animals being off or certain details like AJ missing her hat, the kids aren't even going to notice. And if they do, they aren't going to care. But since the fanbase is mainly older people, hopefully Hasbro does make it more accurate, since obviously, we do care. Haha

Same here. Even as a kid, I was a perfectionist with how my toys looked. Which is why, although funny at first, I became pissed when the time came to undo my Barbie's dreadlocks that were done by my cousin.
Yep. xD But hell, if Hasbro WAS faithful to the original designs, would the kids even care? With or without her hat, AJ would still sell. Spike or no Spike, Twilight will still be sold. White or Pink, Celestia will still be bought. The kids won't care either way, so why not be faithful to the actual designs?

Yeah! And I'd NOTICE the little imperfections, but I honestly wouldn't care! I'd just PRETEND they were the right color, or PRETEND so and so had clothes on(LOL). It didn't matter to me, UNLESS someone went and ruined the hair or ripped one of the outfits. Then all hell broke loose. Lol
And, yeah! In fact, they'd probably even sell more(sorry if I'm repeating myself. XD) I'm betting these are just "recycled" though. It could just be the same "style" that I'm thinking I've seen before because it's from Hasbro, which is a pretty big company. BUT, I swear I've seen these animals somewhere else. But as for AJ's hate, there really is no excuse. Why not just make it!?

Good point, but you know what they say, they're doing this for the money and not for the fans. If you look at your label boxes, the main culprit is got to be China, anything made in China is always looking for money and not the fans. If they have think the other way round, we can buy more stuff and give them more money in return.
So far, I would prefer the US to manufacture them, not only they'll make our Celestia white, they'll also have better quality compare to China. But too bad, just like the businessman Donald Trump predicted, the US has no more jobs anymore because of all that funding goes to the war in the Middle East.
