Description Yup.

You're seeing this right.

I have begun mechanizing Final Fantasy. XD

I do hope to have time for more deviations into the monster/boss lore of the franchise, but for now you have this....Thing. Mecha Zeromus.

For those who are not familiar with Final Fantasy 4, Zeromus was (*Spoilers, don't read on if you don't want the end game ruined for you*) the last boss in the game, besides the "hidden" Lunar Ruins and the bosses in there. I always liked this boss, despite not knowing exactly how I should be looking at it (were is the head on this monster? Does it even have a head?). The music was eerily appropriate, the background was cool -especially when the boss pulled off it's trademark "supermove", the Big Bang- and the battle exciting. It even had a nice lead up to it, with Zemus being there to intimate and wreck your party members before that whole bit with the Crystal comes into play. Very, very cool.

Anyway, I did this for an avatar for the FF Dissidia Role Play site, Shattered Heavens. I don't think I'll actually have time to get into RPing there, but the community is pretty neat as far as I can tell, so I joined just for that. The idea for avatars was being tossed back and forth in my head; between Mecha Zeromus, Rydia, Kain Highwind, a joke picture about Cecil and his lipstick (Moon Lipstick Powah!), and a fan made OOC, which I very well may make one day soon. Due to not having much time for art, I settled on this beasty.

MZ here has six arms, metal flesh, and weird tentacle thingies coming out from where it's legs should be. Parts of it look skeletal, as the original Zeromus does, and has those huge, glowing blue orbs (eyes?) that make it look oh so alien. The 'wings' have extended spines comparing to the original, and the transparent 'brain case' is still there, with a blue hue. The horns protruding out from the front have been replaced by a series of vicious metallic fangs.

Of course, it would still have the original's moveset, with Big Bang, Black Hole, and the tendency to counter Bahamut with Bio (if I remember that correctly).

If I can remember, I'd like to take on a Behemoth, Bahamut, Malboro, and maybe even Chaos in a mechanized form. Should be fun! If you have any suggestions on who/what I should mechanize next, lave a comment!

Do Final Fantasy XIII. Lol as the details destroy you.

Heh, yeah, I'd have to do some studying for anything from the newer games. I've not played a FF game since FF10.

But it's a good suggestion anyhow, even if it was a joke. It may be fun trying to take on a beast from a recent game. I'd learn something at least.

No kidding. Franchise artist Tetsuya Nomura absolutely hates drawing Lightning's weapon, the Blazefire Sabre, because of all the details. XIII loved its machines and tiny ass details.

One of these days I want to sit through a massive YouTube walkthrough of FFXIII and just soak up the expereince of the newer styles. To me having never played the games, they look fun, at least to watch. I'm looking forward to witnessing all the new characters and monsters.

I can't play them myself since the newer games are on consoles that I don't have (and have no interest on getting, nor have the finances to invest in), also my computer is not made for gaming. It's ten years old and runs on Windows XP, and has trouble running adds here on DA let alone play a game.

Really seeing a play-through is the best option I can think of. But I do plan on getting a new PC sometime this year. Maybe it can be one strong enough to play a modern game....

My PC is 2 years old and plays it with a few issues. I'm certain should you get a new one it'd work marvelously.

Nice work on this! Thats a LOT of detail you have going on!

Thank you! Detail has become a kind of trademark of mine, though not all of my pieces have much of it. It really helps when you have a good base to work off of, like how Zeromus is originally quite detailed. It was a nice guide for this work.

No doubt. a good solid foundation like that to start with (Zeromus) always pushes you to match it

Thank you! I like the way this came out too. When I have the time for my art, making more stuff like this is high on the priority list.

I hadn't played FFIV, so though I recognized the name I was like "Wait, he looked like that..?" Before I realized you mechanized him and I felt like an idiot xD;

Looks really good though! Would be fun to see more things mechanized.

^_^ Well, Zeromus did look a lot like this, but there are a few noticeable differences, like how the original was largely organic and had different colors, amongst other things (like, for some examples: only having two arms instead of six, the wings are a bit different, and there are no ragged tentacles coming out the bottom). I really like this design; not that the original was bad by any means, but in my books if you take an already good concept and mechanize it, you can't go wrong. XD

I will hopefully be making more in this line of works, but before then I have some work to do for my own original FF char. That will take me a long while.

...Hold on, you haven't played FFIV? Then what the hell are you doing wasting time here on DA, go play it! It's only the greatest game ever made.

In my opinion, obviously. XD Thanks for stopping by and leaving your two cents.

If there's anything I can do to help make your character let me know! And I plan to eventually, I finally got a DS again (got the ultra rare Pikachu 3DS XL) because a friend got it for me so once I have the money I plan to get IV and the prequel.

Awesome! Thank you, if I get stuck I may take you up on that offer to help me out with my character.

And doubly awesome on the DS front! Once you can afford it, have lots of fun with the games!

okay, THIS....is awesome.

you took the basic design and improved on it while still retaining a common graphical appearance with its original form.
kudo to you

Thank you! This came to me one early morning. I was thinking... Actually, I don't remember what lead to this thought exactly. It just kinda formed together like this.

The original character gave me a lot to work with, so that helps a lot. It's easy to make modifications when there is so much you can play with.

Ha ha ha ha!

Well, I was being honest. I don't have much motivation for art, now that I need to dedicate all this time to memorizing flying stuff. My updates will be few and far in between, I'm afraid.
