Description

Forests are beautiful and full of life. They are part of a whole, and are balanced within the whole of the world. They stay this way because the guardians love and protect everything within them. They love all life, but some become corrupt, only desiring the destruction of all life outside the forests. They believe the forest is the only thing there needs to be and forget the delicate balance that's in play.
One day, a selfish guardian shunned his brothers and sisters ways. He set out to destroy a creature that wandered into the edge of the forest tree line. Seeing the creature, he felt deep anger and hatred and struck it dead. Looking down at the beast breathing it's last breath, regret, sadness, empathy, and emptiness consumed him. He did not realize what he had done until it was too late.
Consumed by these feelings, a corruption began to consume him. A muck like oil and tar gushed from him uncontrollably. If only he had tried to understand his purpose and the world around him better; if only he paid more attention to what he was meant for and what he meant. Realizing this, he took to the deepest center of the forest. He took in all the beauty around him as his brethren gathered around. He knew what needed to be done. He reached out to the Mother Tree. "One last time, I wish to touch the leaves of the trees in my forest. Forgive me."
