Description
Outside The WindowI pass by the same window everyday on my way out the door. It's not an important window, it’s just something I look through everyday before leaving the house. Sometimes if I look at it from just the right angle, I see a face looking at me from the house across the street. It’s that whole pareidolia thing. The windows look like a big creepy smile. Sometimes I hate that house.
I love looking through the window during autumn. The trees line the street with orange and red leaves that fall gently to the ground. They look much better when you catch them falling fresh from the branches. After they hit the ground, it’s only a matter of time before they’re brown mush clumps lining the streets and clogging the gutters. Then there’s Halloween, my most favorite thing in all of autumn. Costumes, candy, haunted houses, and everything else Halloween related. Haunted houses are mostly a disappointment, but dressing up is a lot of fun. And who doesn’t like free candy?
In the winter snow drifts can come up to the bottom of the window. I like to sit on the bench and press my hand against the window to see who will win, the warmth of my hand, or the coldness of the snow. Right now it's a draw, but I could have won the last time. My neighbors across the street came home and were starring at me. It made me uncomfortable so I had to stop.
Spring time is nice, but not as nice as autumn. I have a small flower garden below my window that I sprinkle wild flower seeds in. I love to be surprised at what grows there. Sometimes there's little purple flowers, sometimes it's yellow, and maybe I get to see some wild grass I've never seen before. It's always fun to see what will pop up.
I have always loved surprises. I remember this one time I ordered something online but I forgot what it was, so rather than look it up, I waited to be surprised. It’s weird because when it finally came, I remember being so excited. Almost like I was getting a gift or something. For some reason I can't remember what i got. All I can remember is my neighbor handing me the package. I guess that’s helpful, but why go through the trouble on such a cold day?
The summer is always so hot. Well most summers anyway. This one isn’t hot at all. As a matter of fact, I can’t believe how comfortable the temperature has been lately. I hardly even notice it. On most days during the summer, I see kids outside playing and running around. I remember being a part of that. All us kids running outside to play ball in the road. I was always the one to yell for a car coming. It was a lot of fun, until my neighbors across the street complained. Then we had to stop playing in the street.
We still had fun at my friends house. I would wait in front of the window like a puppy waiting for her to walk down the sidewalk. One day she said she would come over and we could leave together, but she never came. My parents told me… something, but I can’t remember. I never saw her again after that.
I guess this window is something I've looked out of for a long time. It’s always been here, and I remember putting my butt on the bench and looking out at the neighborhood a lot. It’s winter now, and this time I will melt this snow on the window before the neighbors come home.
I've had I my hand on this window for so long, I think the snow is broken. I can’t even feel the cold. It’s like my hands are numb or something. Great, here come the neighbors to stare at me again. That guy is just so creepy. His wife is no different. They are just two weirdly creepy quiet people. They’re starring again. I guess I can give a wave to make this less awkward… jerks didn’t even wave back. Whatever. It’s pretty late for them to be out. They are pretty old. I thought all old people went to bed when the sun was still up.
They couldn’t be more shifty looking than they are right now. I bet they did something weird. Oh man, they have shovels. Holy crap I bet they killed someone. Haha, as if they could. Look at them. They can barely hold a shovel, how would they dig a hole? They were probably helping some of the neighbors break up the ice in their driveways. It gets pretty solid sometimes, and I’ve seen them take the shovels to it. I guess it’s easier on them. I just use salt.
I don’t know what those 2 were up to last night, but the police were over their place this morning. Crazy. Maybe they really did do something. You think you know someone. The wife is crying though. Maybe something bad happened?
Looks like the police are back. They’re putting the two of them in a car. Well I always new they were nuts. It was only a matter of time. I would ask what was going on, but I don’t want to be that busy body who always gets into people's business. I’ve never like the neighborhood gossip, but I know I’ll hear something eventually.
Seasons sure pass by fast, it’s already spring. I didn’t even have to plant flowers this time. Some people from the neighborhood brought flowers and placed them outside my window. That’s so nice of them. I know most of the neighbors and we would get together and talk about gardening when we could. I guess they decided I would like the surprise. Between this and not having those two weirdos living across the street, this year is already looking great!
I still never heard about what happened, but their house is for sale now. If it was something bad I would have heard about it.
Now that it’s autumn, I can finally partake in my favorite time, Halloween! I heard some kids talking about a haunted house they heard about in the area. I bet it’s the old neighbors house across the street. I can’t wait. It’s always looked kind of creepy to me, and for some reason, I hate it very much.
So many kids came to my door tonight for candy, but I just don’t feel up to it tonight. I gave a few of them a good scare though. They kept peeking through the window, so I popped up and smacked the glass hahaha. It was fun watching them scream and run. Eventually I had to close the curtains because so many of them were coming by for the jump scare. I did so good. I've never seen kids so scared. Even when I closed the curtain they ran. I was fantastic today.
