Tobey Maguire (Peter Parker) + Andrew Garfield (Spider-Man) = Tom Holland (Best of Both Worlds)MAGUIRE
Smart, Socially awkward (like Peter) yet kinda stiff in his acting comped to the others.
GARFIELD
Smart, Funny (again, like Peter) but wearing his 'Amazing Spider-man 2' suit kinda made him look like Slender-Man cosplaying as Spider man. And his fighting style from his first movie was kinda gay looking.
HOLLAND
The Perfect blend of the above. Smart, funny, at least he has a few friends and he is the most passive of the avengers. That is why his solo movie involved very little to no scenes of him actually hitting his enemies. This is by far my favourite live action version of Spider-man.

Maguire was the perfect Peter Parker, while Garfield was the perfect Spider-Man.
Holland doesn't really satisfy in either role IMO. He swaps out Maguire's earnest awkwardness for the forced hipster flavor of geek one sees so much on the Internet nowadays and he doesn't have ANY of the cocky New York kid with the bants that Garfield delivered.
But Holland's not going anywhere, so I guess me and the other naysayers will have to get used to him one way or the other.
