Actually, she is trying to put the peanut into her cheek. She is collecting food for the winter as she is hibernating in a deep gallery under the ground. And she will have babies.

He was already having one in right cheek. These animals are amazing, they can take 3 of these peanuts, they have to collect food for the long months of their hibernation.

The chipmunks live underground (about 4 feet deep), they are wild of course.
I managed to tame a female (it took me 3 months of patience and nuts) and now they come to me during the summer.
