Description
I cropped the picture and I got a perfect square - pure luck!It was her third peanut and she managed to put it between her teeth.

Thank you so much!
No, it is not my pet, Chipmunks are wild animals living 4 feet underground.
They are adorable little animals.

how did you find them?

I had noticed a small but clean hole and one day I saw a chipmunk getting out of it. I tried to called it then I thought it might like peanuts. I threw some during weeks while she (it was a female) she was coming closer and closer. After about three months, she took a peanut from my fingers and that was it! I had gained her confidence.
Now her children and grandchildren are coming to me.
I am very patient, you know!

A long explanation!
I am glad with the results though, seeing those chipmunks every summer!

And you stopped doing it?
Btw, your avatar is a chipmunk, not a squirrel. I suppose you knew it!
I don't know where you are from, Julien but in Eastern Canada, chipmunks are hibernating during more than 5 months. In Western USA, as it is not cold, they don't hibernate and may become friendly in parks...
But here, they are very wary animals and it is very difficult to gain their confidence. It took me 3 months before the first one went to grab a peanut from the tip of my fingers.
End of the course, sorry!

JocelyneR
give me your email so I can send you my photos of many red-bellied squirrels I took in the park, they are fed by human all the time, so they are not shy nor coy nor afraid of people, so I can even touch them if I move faster, I even raised my own squirrels for months. Our squirrels don't hibernate in winter. I fed them for years almost everyday during 2008-2010.
I live in Taiwan, I have a good friend in Montreal or Vancouver, and see him every two years when he comes to Taiwan for computer show.
Chipmunks are a category of squirrel family (dictionary: A burrowing ground squirrel of western America and Asia; has cheek pouches and a light and dark stripe running down the body) I raised Chipmunks long before too. but squirrels are better to keep outsides in the nature, not pets.
I'm a rabbit in Chinese zodiac sign.

Oh, you are living in Taiwan! I don't know the Chinese zodiac sign, nor our horoscope signs either. I am pragmatic, if I may say.
I have been told that what you call a chipmunk is more a squirrel - I mean an Asian squirrel. Does your chipmunk/squirrel have stretching cheeks where it can fill with a big peanut? One into each cheek? Our squirrels aren't able to do that.
But you know best of course!
I am keeping my cats inside of course. In order to keep safe the birds, chipmunks, etc.
I saw a note from you - by pure luck - I am overflown with notes and don't have time to look at them. I will give you my email there, Julien.
And please call me Jocelyne or Jo!

Hi, Jocelyne or Jo
Our squirrels don't do that either, but hamsters do, not peanuts, but anything that can eat and store in the cheeks, I once tried to clean the mouth of a hamster, and found this, it was in fact smelly because it kept there and the stuffs would chance over time.
