I’m currently taking a character development class (for animation), so of course I’m using Joe as my character, but I’m developing a bi-pedal version. The point of the class is basically to imbue personality into animation. With that in mind, here is my first assignment, Joe’s walk cycle

I love how the guinea pig has gigantic feet and toes. It looks like he has some big, floppy ears too! I think my favoritehing about this though is that the guinea pig has an adorable, tiny nose that slightly shows when he or she turns his or her head. I also really love it's tiny pot belly and the words in the backround "Guinea Something Good." I will be sure to check out your other pictures in your gallery, JoeGPc. I think I also want to check out the website. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="

Nice walk cycle! nice arc, squash & stretch, 2ndary animation, of course it can still be tuned here and there, but this is a great start!

Totally awesome! Oh... can you say what framerate did you use and how many frames did it take?

Thanks a lot! It's a 12 frames per second framerate with 16 drawings.

Thanks! Most animation is done with 12 frames per second, actually. Animating on "2s" they call it, since, if you're going by the 24 fps standard, you're reusing each drawing for two frames. The exception is extremely fast motion, which should always be animated on "1s" or at 24 fps to avoid a strobing effect. If you do animate on "1s" for all the animation, it can look even more smooth, but you also have to be even more precise with your drawings, as it can start to look wobbly and not solid.

Wow, man! Thanks for the tips! It's very useful! Now I'm experimenting with something. I'm creating frames in PhotoShop as JPGs and I'm animating them with Flash CS3 with 12fps... for now results looks quite good... in fact, I had no idea that flash could show JPGs in such good quality Let's hope the web will not spoil the showing of SWF file. And you... you create comix and animation! How cool is that!? You are my hero

A WALKING JOE!
For some reason this reminded me of Charles Shultz's "Joe Cool"
