Confusing? I'd say it's pretty obvious. Alice (on the left of the picture) needs assistance from a willing friend (on the right of the picture) and that friend is helping out in a way that meets Alice's approval (she does look happy, anyway).

It's not necessarily a locker-room. It might be a room specifically built for people in this kind of situation. The benches are for when it's over and the participants need somewhere to sit, rest, and catch their breath.
