I love the photo, but it doesn't really seem like they're "enjoying the silence" to me. they seem distant from each other and each ridden with worries. maybe that's just me

I like it because it looks real, and does not give the impression of being posed. That is a good thing Also, the black&white gives you that vintage-home-family type thingy. The border goes great, as well. Perhaps, the only thing needed to be worked on is trying new angles.
