Description
On the Norfolk & Western mainline, a 'Y6' 2-8-8-2 double-heading with a 'A' class 2-6-6-4 (unseen in a plume of smoke),tugs a eastbound coal drag upgrade near the summit of Blue Ridge, Virginia.
In the mid and late 50s, the N&W was one of the last railroads in America to operate steam longer than anywhere else which
had long since moved on to diesel locomotives.
