YAY!!! The hair tutorial!!! *supertackleglomps you* >w< I've waited so long!! And guess what?? I finally convinved my dad to let me order a drawing tablet off eBay! It's an 8x6 USB tablet, and I can't wait to get it so I can do the prettiful hair!! ^^ I know this'll help me above all else! By the way, did you see the Mermaid picture I painted? I used your Photoshop skin and eyes and Painter hair tutorial for it, and then decided to do the background and tail with Painter, because I got attached to it ^^ It really is a good program

painter is pretty awesome, isn't it? ^__^ I'm glad you're getting a tablet! It's really so helpful for getting things to look the way you want... although I've been experiementing with the pen tool recently and it's also pretty swell and can be done with a mouse...

Well, turns out the tablet won't work T_T I need Windows 98 and all that jazz... it's one of those KBGear Pablo tablets. But I'll just ask for a Wacom one for my birthday; my grandma loves getting me expensive stuff. I'll try that pen tool, though, sounds interesting. One other question: how big is your tablet? The Pablo was 8x6...

Thankyou very mauch for this tutorial, but do you have to have photoshop to use it? I'm under the impression that Photoshop is a purchased software, whick I don't have, and it has special tools, and I cannot make anything as great as this without them...

not true! The basic coloring principles here can be applied to most digital graphics programs... Some are tool specific, like the smudge/dodge tool, but they're really conviences. There's nothing you can't do without a simple brush. >D As a start, maybe take a look at oekaki? They are web applets and no cost to use...
