Transformers G1 - Protectobot
My character study on the Autobot "Groove". Here you can see a front, back, and side view of the character.
-Comments-
I'm very happy with the results as I wanted to draw the details more accurately for Groove and it was a challenge working on him.
I"m also working on the other members of the "Protectobots" which I'm looking forward to sharing with you people!

I've always found it so strange that Groove's front motorcycle wheel disappears when he transforms.Β I think whoever came up with his rear-view design was not the same person who did the front-view.Β And they obviously weren't looking at the toy!

Indeed it was odd but interesting the way they would intepretate the toy design and make a cartoon/comic version because they clearly simplified things and compromised a lot by taking and adding new things in. If they stayed more to the toy design I would imagine 1 wheel on one of his inner leg parts which wouldn't look as cool as it was officially designed and you could even say he is a tricycle/motorbike if he had those 2 wheels on his inner legs work in his alt mode. ^_^Β

No at all, Frank Welker after all is a professional and it was great to see and know now many he did for Autobots and Decepticons!

I've been having problems with these guys. Just something has been keeping me from drawing them as I feel they should look when I draw them. Blocking.

I can understand that mainly because I believe Groove is one of the most difficult characters I've had to draw next to Blades. But it feels so good to practice and finalize the official results on their designs.

Groove is cool because he's one of the first motorcycles you got in the toy line.
What I didn't like was his being in a gestalt, he's just too small to be a body part. I was never a fan of the "mass shift" cover ups.

Yep this is Groove he was featured in a few little episodes which is why it's rare to see him thus I made this for him and for the fans!

Yes if your interested to find out who they are I recommend you do because they are excellent characaters! Yes he does which is very different from other Transformers.

That's great! good condition or half good is good enough to have a rare toy!
I can actually relate to that I used to play hard with my G1 toys and they came out alive like 50% condition haha it was real fun.
