This piece is an abstract digital piece that I intended to fall into the realm of abstract expressionism (but it may be more of a fancy background or CGI piece really). It was created using a ton of processing/distortion in addition to digitally drawn-in and photographic parts. In other words, it was a very procedural process guided by the emotional response I intended at the beginning and influenced by how it naturally formed over time. I use a lot of distortion filtering and texturing. The most important part is the "shear" filter (I use Photoshop's) which allows you to twist things into winding waves. You can then apply the same filter over and over to new shapes, textures etc on new layers and they will automatically align with the waves. It's almost like you are "mixing" everything together. You can create all kinds of cool stuff from scratch such as this like that!
