Man I feel like I am the only one that really really loved the movie. Like I understand everyone's issues with it...but I guess I was just more accepting in the story they were trying to tell. Now, that could be because I am an older G fan and having lived through and seen the big guy go through many different mediums and iterations. Or maybe it is cause I have lower standards who know >_<
I like the art though. Very cool way to draw Godzilla as his whole body was glowing red hot from the firepower of the humans and city's assault.

I've been a G fan since about '84 myself, and whilst I had some issues with CotEoB, I did have fun returning to this bizarre anime version.
I'm very curious to see how they handle Ghidorah and Mothra in the next one!

I hate how even if the city did end up turning into Mechagodzilla, the design they made looks like a car crash.

Actually apparently at one point The City wasΒ supposed toΒ transform intoΒ a 1 km tall Mechagodzilla.... (but the idea was scrapped)

Yeah... I was originally going to have Mechagodzilla 4's head quipping something like "Boobs are cool", but I just couldn't draw the damn thing with all those weird angles.

I once saw a picture on this site that was a tutorial for creating kaiju/monsters generally, and one of the explanations was, "do not throw ALL the shit onto your monster, lest you end up with the dreaded 'Armorblob'. A being with no discernable silhouette." AniMechaGoji, is an armorblob, not helped at all when you learn it's not based on Godzilla himself, but sea slugs. The name "Mecha-Godzilla", informs its design, "robot Godzilla", when you try to stray from that, it stops being Mecha-Godzilla.
