The "Dark Angels" are the first legion of "Astartes" human soldiers genetically intervened by the sacred "Emperor" who served as a base template for the rest of the legions in the Great Galactic Crusade. The merits obtained in battle turned the "Dark Angels" into the most specialized legion in combat and with numerous active regiments that were equal to the "Ultramarines".
Each "Dark Angel" that was created on Terra departed from the planet as the personal escort of the "Emperor" in the first years of the Great Crusade, fighting for galactic conquest the "Dark Angels" were ordered to retreat to thousands of worlds to bring the "Imperial Truth" to its population. (Ancient beliefs such as clay idols were swept from the battlefields of planets that did not submit to the will of the "Emperor")
As the Great Crusade spread throughout the galaxy, the Emperor arrived at the inhospitable and wild planet of "Caliban" where by surprise he found his lost son, the Primarch "Lion El'Jonson" the lion of Caliban.
The Primarch "Jonson" had arrived on the deadly planet of "Caliban" as a baby in an area far from any civilian settlement, interned in the wildest jungle, the little Primarch survived the stalking of the great beasts that inhabited the dense forests; But his luck changed when he was found on a hunting raid led by a feudal knight named "Sar Luther". According to a story the knights were attacked by a wild child that the order had to eliminate but "Luther" opposed and raised him as his special son. (Because of his strange encounter, I baptize the child as Lion El'Jonson, "Lion Son of the Forest") 🦁

Later when the heresy of the Primarch "Horus" broke out in the galaxy and the legions of loyalists and traitors chose sides, the "Dark Angels" who stood by "Lion El'Jonson" remained loyal to the Emperor and fought against the traitors in different ways. "Dantean" scenarios throughout the worlds invaded by chaos until the physical death and rise of the Emperor on his Golden Throne. While Caliban was unraveling "Lion El'Jonson" managed to deal a fatal blow to the traitor of "Luther" who, bleeding to death, asked the lion for mercy in a moment of lucidity "Jonson" reflected on his execution remembering the father and mentor he had been " Sar Luther” but when he hesitated the traitor returned the blow with a psychic ray that twisted the noble Lion in pain; The screams of agony removed the bandage of hatred that the dark gods had subjected to "Luther" for a moment he turned his gaze on his adopted son who lay kneeling before him, with the wounded opponents and refusing to continue fighting the dark gods did not they accepted obvious defeat and sent forth a warp storm that engulfed "Caliban" into an asteroid. 💥
The "Dark Angels" who managed to escape from the warp storm turned that last piece of "Caliban" into their new fortress-monastery and baptized it as the "Rock", countless times the Dark Angels searched for some trace of their lost Primarch but all was in vain, the only survivor they found among the ruins was the traitor of "Luther" who raving said: "Lion is near and will soon wake up" chained and prisoner of the deepest cell in the "Rock" the Dark Angels keep the oath of not reveal their secrets (acts of heresy) until they atone for their sins before the Emperor like those of their fallen brothers. ⛪
