Description Noble's Book Barn was the best (and only) bookstore in all of White Tail. It consisted of two floors; with the store on the bottom and two small apartments on top. One of those apartments belonged to Written, which makes sense, since she also worked there. So when it was time to search for information on ponies like Sonnet, it was of course the first place they went.
"Morning Written! See you brought the little one today." The store's owner, Noble Border, was busy shelving books in the 'self-help' section.
"Morning Mr. Noble. Do you mind if Sonnet and me browse while I'm working today? We're looking for information on- something."
"Sure thing; just make sure the little one doesn't make too big a mess. We have enough to do around here." He gave a friendly chuckle. Sonnet blushed, embarrassed.
"I'll try not to, sir."
"Good. Written, you can start shelving in non-fiction. We got a new shipment today."
"Sure thing sir!" And she got to work. She scanned the books as she shelved, seeing if anything was even remotely related to different pony species. Sonnet followed, every so often looking self-consciously at the ink she trailed behind.
"I wish there was a way I could clean up the ink I leave behind." Written's face turned to sympathy.
"I'm sorry sweetie. Maybe-" Written stopped. There in front of her was a massive brown book titled with golden letters: "The Many Mythical Species of the Pony Kind".
"Hey Sonnet! Look at this!" She pulled out the book with her magic.
"Do you think it could help us?"
"I'm not sure, but it's worth a try." She opened it and started scanning through the pages. Sonnet looked up in anticipation. Written kept flipping though until she stumbled on a passage.
"Inky Ponies. This breed of pony is said to be able to drip ink from their bodies."
"Hey, that sounds just like me! Does it say where they live?" Written kept reading.
"Royals can drip ink from their manes...tend to be artistic...no, it doesn't. Sorry Sonnet, but at least we know what you are now."
"Oh well. I guess that's good enough." Sonnet sulked past the shelves and back up the stairs. Written looked after her, frowning.
"She really wants to find ponies like her," she thought, "But I don't even know where to start..."

Finished at last! Believe it or not, this is actually my first time submitting a piece with a background. I also took the time to throw in a bunch of references on the 'Best Sellers' shelf. Since I know they're hard to see, I'll put them in a separate post. Noble Border's name is also a reference to two things that are book-related. I'll do a drawing of him later.
Speaking of which, the shelf-stairs were based on a photo I found while looking for reference pictures. It was so cool I just had to include it:media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736…

I adoooooore the "Noble's Book Barn" thing XD Your writing is quite lovely as well, just enough detail to make it easy to picture and understand, but not so much that you're rambling (as I often do XD)
