Description
Wednesday. It was the deadest night at the TimberWolf nightclub. Yet for some reason the clubs' owner insisted on having performers. Maybe it was to attract more ponies. Maybe it was because he was crazy. Nopony really knew. Written had stopped questioning it. After all, she made good side bits singing on that night, why bite the hoof that feeds you by questioning motives? But nonsensical reasoning wasn't why her performance was more lack-luster than usual tonight. It was Sonnet, more specifically, her disappointment. She wanted to find the Inky land, but she didn't have a clue as to where it could be, or even if there existed one at all. After her show for the night, she exited off backstage and onto the main floor. She couldn't go home just yet. On stage was a cover band that was still setting up. She sighed and trotted over to a back table that was partly covered in shadow. The band started playing some song about fire safety. Written took a seat and began to mope.
"Um, excuse me. Though I appeared invisible to your eyes due to being cloaked in partial darkness, that does not mean that I'm not still here." Though the mares' voice was calm and non-threatening, her words stung like icy rain on a winter's night. It was this quality that made Written suddenly feel intimidated.
"I-I'm sorry ma'am. I'll move-"
"No, you can stay. Just making you aware of my presence." Written looked for a sign that everything really was alright, but the mare remained expressionless. Silence. Written studied the mare, her cold outward appearance, her shawl-cloak-thing, the flow of blue in her mane, and the way it sparkled, as though she was the embodiment of ice herself. She finally got the guts to make small-talk.
"So...my name's Written. Written Thought."
"I'm Frost. Just Frost." More silence.
"I-haven't seen you around here before. What are you doing in a town like White Tail?"
"Just stopping here on the way to a book premier. Apparently a few of my poems made their way into a collection, and they wanted me to show up."
"Oh, you're a writer? I'm a writer too! Though I've never been published, except in small-town things." Frost remained unmoved. Defeated, Written turned around and sunk back into her troubles. Since she felt alone, she started dabbling into one of her old habits: thinking out loud.
"What am I gonna do? Sonnet really wants to see the land of the Inkies, but-"
"Did you say 'land of the Inkies'?" Frost suddenly looked-interested.
"Yeah, why?"
"I've been there."
"What?"
"I've been to the land of the Inkies." Written was absolutely shocked by this revelation.
"You have?"
"Yeah, it's called Inkvale. I spend most of my time there." She paused to grab something from her saddlebags on the floor. "I have a map."
She lightly dropped the parchment on the table and unfurled it. Depicted before them was a land of forests, lakes, deserts, and more. Written stared in awe.
"And how, pray tell, does one reach this mysterious, ink-coated country?"
"Through the desert."
"That's across a sea-monster infested ocean?" Frost shrugged.
"There's a sort of water-mass that surrounds them, yes."
"And how does one reach this land from Equestria?"
"Fly."
"Ok, thanks!" Written beamed. What luck! But what would make this even luckier...
"So, can I keep the map, or..."
"If you want the map, it's gonna cost you six bits." Written sighed.
"Fine."
Inky Quest: Now with guest stars! Yes, Frost does not belong to me, she actually belongs to WaterLillyHearts , who was kind enough to give me permission to use her. When I was planning out this story-arc in my head, I always wanted to use one of her OC's for this scene (one, because creator reference, and two, because part of Written and Frost's exchange is based on a conversation found here: waterlillyhearts.deviantart.co…); and when I saw Frost, I knew she was perfect for the role. So again, thank you!
Also, the cover band is from here:www.deviantart.com/art/Contest…

Pfft. Frost. Look at you being cold to ponies.
If you need a desert guide I always have Sandstorm and you may use her. I'm sure you can find any OCs of mine you need for fillers or something. (just stay out of the true rune ponies and the carnies) Ask first too just in case.
