Yes, the black background tends to bring out the white skin (especially if one is trying to work with that contrast for "effect").

Ah, the slow and dream-like collapse from the world of the ideal down to the unkind daily reality. How beautifully tragic. Nice fall, very graceful. The lighting coming from above/side really add to the sense of falling into darkness.

i agree-- it's an interesting/unusual camera angle for sure, but i think it adds to the photograph's overall sense of refreshing..ness... (hope that's a word) It's much more rare to see a male artistic nude than a female, and this one is very well done. the model is clean and the background (although a little wrinkly) is simple enough not to overpower the detail and beauty of the male body. Awesome construction.
