The Oh Hellos - Cold

when the feeling leaves you
it moves so slow
like the loose change from your front pocket
you don't even feel it go

when the bitter creeps in
to bite you whole
a spectre unreflected, oh
it keeps you cold
~
The events of winter left many in Fellfang wearier than ever before, even if their coincidental nature proved to be familiar: just like before, the threat of war and fracture in the pack hang heavy in the air. Just like before, new life graced Fellfang and the newest generation came into view, unexpectedly but welcomed nonetheless. Just like before, they were left tending to what had been broken after another harsh, turbulent autumn, while the creeping cold brought next challenges.
But if Illsa had learnt anything from experience, was that the northern winds blew warmer each spring.

when you keep your linens
like virgin snow
like a blanket of white
unbroken by the soil below

the sound don’t carry
won’t rise or fall
it damps the racket, chokes it back
a strangle hold
~
Illsa looks back to the events of winter with both regret, concern, grief and fondness. There have been blissful days, there have been tragedies... All in all she is cautiously and hopefully looking forward to what spring might bring for the pack.
