Intro

You know, the more of Rainbowdash I see, the more she starts reminding me of, well, me. Yeah learning difficulties are also part of my life. Yeah, this episode really resonates with me. Also Testing testing 1 2 3, and here I thought Bats! had a weird title.

Synopsis

We start off with Twilight outside her library studying a spell that will probably never be mentioned again till Rainbowdash recklessly flies past her at amazing speed. Twilight is not happy since Rainbowdash is supposed to be studying for a Wonderbolt exam so she decides to fly up to Rainbowdash and tell her herself/surprise her only to get surprised herself as we find that Rainbowdash apparently very well pays attention to her surroundings. Twilight then tells her that if Rainbowdash doesn't pass she won't be about to join the Wonderbolt's reserves. Rainbowdash being as overconfident as she is thinks it's no big deal. After an aguement Twilight then hatches an idea, become Rainbowdash's tutor, and then she teleports them inside the library with a conviently already set up chalkboard and desk, eh I'll by it. Twilight then gives Rainbowdash a book on the history of the Wonderbolts and procedes to the first step of studying, reading and highlighting. Twilight later checks and finds that pretty much everything is highlighted, with a drawing or two, Miss Sparkle is not happy, about the progress, or the picture of her being too tall. Twilight tries the next thing, history lecture, after some lame excuses from Rainbowdash Twilight then precedes to lecturing while Raibowdash having a very low attention span decides to just rock back and from with Owlicious and Spike come and and start a band with her? Twilight then notices and Spike and Owlicious make a run for it. Twilight not being happy takes Rainbowdash is chair, then she takes a seat on a blow horn, most likely set up by a certain multicolored pegasus. Rainbowdash sure is an unruly student, my teachers would have a field day with her. So next method, flash cards, Twilight then starts reading them only to have them shot away by spit wades, take a guess by whom. Twilight then give Rainbowdash a pop quiz to see how she does, Rainbow accepts, and fails, epically. Rainbowdash then realizing that this could have happened on the real test then goes into a panic, me in a nutshell before each test. Rainbowdash then decides to blame Twlight for her failure, yeah, blame the teacher. The start arguing and Fluttershy comes along and watches, Twlight says she could pass the test and Rainbowdash then critiques her flying and we get a rare moment of Fluttershy actually raising her voice, and then they stop. Twlight explains the situarion and Fluttershy decides to help up by putting together a Wonderbolt history play to help Rainbowdash learn with all of her friends pets and Angel playing the parts, oh by the way, nice hat Spike. They fail and the whole play falls apart, eh, least it wasn't Show Stopper's bad. Just as Rainbowdash was about to say the play was awful Pinkie comes in and says she likes it giving it three woo hoo's, why do I suddenly feel like I'm watching an mlp reviewer giving his score for an episode? Rainbowdash decides to just go home, then Pinkie stops her and decides to help her learn Wonderbolt history, by rapping about it. Well, now we can add rap the the show's list of music genre's. Rainbowdash tries to rap it herself and fails, again. Then it's Rarity's turn to play teacher, wearing whatever the heck that is, and teaches Rainbowdash the only way she knows how, through fashion. She does so by having Twlight, Pinkie, Fluttershy, and Applejack dress up as historical Wonderbolt members and introducing themselves. Rainbowdash can't take it and Applejack says that that this fashion show wouldn't help her learn anything either, did Applejack really mean that or was she just trying to spite Rarity, hard to tell. Rainbowdash ask what method Applejack's got and she has nothing, except about apples, after finding that the test is in twelve hours gives her honest opinion that Rainbowdash is doomed, that's the element of honesty for ya. Also anyone else find it kind of ironic that not counting Applejack everyone knows Wonderbolt history except the member that wants to become one? They all try to help Rainbowdash with their old methods of teaching and Rainbowdash gives up and flies away. Twilight flies after her and tries to comfort her and Rainbowdash pushes her out of the way of a pedal powered helicoptor? Twilght ask how Rainbowdash knew about that while talking to her and Rainbowdash explains that she always scans her surroundings while in flight and knows her surroundings to the tiniest details such as the CMC coming out of Sugar Cube Corner with carrot cupcake in their faces and Big Mac making a big apple sale to Filthy Rich. So apparently Rainbowdash is omnicient to her surroundings in flight, that's, kinda creepy, knowing that she knows every thing we do when she's flying. Twilight gets an idea and flies off while Rainbowdash wallows in self pity and sleeps on a cloud that then turns into a rain cloud. Twilight tells her friends the plan and then ask Rainbowdash if she wants to fly. Rainbowdash accepts and Twilight tries to conversationalize and cheer up Rainbowdash to no avail and they land at her cloud house. Twilight ask what Rainbowdash remembers about the flight and she starts spewing out Wonderbolt history, much to hers and for that matter our surprise. Twilight reveals that she had all their friends reinact the Wonderbolt history along their flight path thus Rainbowdash learned through her flight awarenesss of her surroundings. Rainbowdash then takes the test while Twilight writes in the diary a moral about how everyone has their own style of learning that works best for them. Rainbowdash turns in her test and we get some tension as her test is being graded, and she passed one hundred percent!

Problems

If I had to pick a problem I guess it would be Pinkie, Fluttershy, and Rarity somehow knowing about Wonderbolts history, its small and didn't really affect my rating.

Praises

That was quite an experience, seeing Rainbowdash go through pretty much all the things that I go through as I await a test. Seeing the different methods was also really an enjoyable experience. The more of Rainbowdash I see the more she seems to become the most relatable to me. And seeing Rainbowdash act as an unrully student to Twilight was pretty hilarious. Oh and rapping Pinkie, awsome! It's really something when a show can make a learning experience not feel like a learning experience. And the moral, I gotta say this is yet another great moral, each and every one of us has a learning method that works best for us individually, here's hoping we can all find that style in each of us.

Score
Awsome!

Looks like Rainbowdash has once again gotten closer to making her dream a reality, I get the feeling that we're not too far off from seeing Wonderbolt Rainbowdash. Hm, Amy Keating Rodgers ain't doing too bad either, I'd say she's my second favorite writer this season, just behind Dave Polsky.

If you could, can you read my defense for this episode?

To tell you the truth, I say this is the worst episode of the season.

Rainbow Dash is apparently 8 years old, and not listening in school is justified; according to this pathetic excuse of an episode.

If it was Scootaloo instead of RD then it would be good. And get rid of rapping Pinkie Pie.

If you disagree with me, I'm not trying to argue I just really think this episode stunk.

Eh, I knew a disagreements would come sooner or later. Anyway I knew what I was getting myself into when I started this this MLP reviewer segment. All I can say is that these are my own personal thoughts on the episodes and that for every episode there's a like and a dislike from someone.

It's fine, I know to expect disagreements every now and then, pretty much comes with the territory when you tell your own thoughts about a certain something.

I actually do think Rainbow Dash learning different study methods is in character for her. She's no book smart pony. Heck, it was mentioned in "Sonic Rainboom" she dropped out of flight school. Plus, if you want, you can check out the length defense I gave to this episode.

As a huge fan of the 80's hip-hop and 90's rap music decades,
I simply love Pinkie's rap song "Rappin' History of the Wonderbolts".

Best heartwarming episode this season.
Scootaloo is getting closer to being able to fly,she was sustaining herself very well in "For whom the Sweetie belle toils" and in this episode she was seen off the ground for 3 seconds. That is enough time for me think Scoot is getting better n closer to Flying.
