Description
Apologies for taking so long to upload this! Anyway, this is the new poster I sold for AX11. I think I have a few extra left...Definitely the most difficult of the bunch simply because it was nearly double the amount of characters! And because I didn't want to cheat and use already Japanese words for the examples.
This is based off of Himaruya's series Axis Powers Hetalia and (almost) all the words have a direct reference to the manga! Do you lemembe' them arr?

I wrote out the stuff on this chart, and I'm using it to help me learn Japanese. Thank's for making this. I get that hiragana and katakana came from kanji, but if they are used for word pronunctiation, then why didn't the Japanese never desided to get rid of kanji and start writing in only the other two alphabets? It would be alot easier then having to learn thousands of characters.

Well, actually it would be quite difficult to read and understand what is written without kanji. For example, try reading this γ―γ―γ―γ―γγγ and tne same sentence written with kanji ζ―γ―ζ―ε»θ . Which one is easier to understand?Actually it's easy to read if there is furigana above kanji, but without furigana it's really disastrous. So, we MUST learn kanji.

Well they don't use nearly as many as the Chinese have to, I'd say a few hundred would be more than enough to get you through Japanese. XD I don't know for sure why they never changed completely, but you can really read a lot faster with kanji because you are recognizing the shape for a word instead of spelling it out one by one. There are no spaces in Japanese writing separating words, so using kanji is a good way to divide sentence into readable chunks. Also, you must admit that it makes calligraphy a lot prettier!

These are cute. I wish you didn't use Otaku, though. In Japan...It is a bad word (an insult). Also the "ew' in New Year doesn't really have a Yu sound. I really like this.

It is. The only probably is that outside of Japan it has adopted two meanings:
1) Someone that's passionate about a particular hobby
2) Someone who's obsessed with a particular hobby and who has no social life what-so-ever
^_^

I would suggest Kuma (bear) and Yume (dream). Those are easy words.

I wanted to avoid Japanese words though, because this was meant for absolute beginners. I think people who don't know Japanese wouldn't know how to pronounce kuma and yume?

You would think, but most people can't even pronounce sensi or origami properly, much less even know what kuma means...

Really? People can't even pronounce Sensei or Origami properly? That's sad....But then again, most people don't even know how to pronounce "manga" correctly. LOL
Most Americans (Most English - speaking people?) can't even pronounce Karaoke, karate, samurai, and other words correctly. LOL ROFL The stupid people that said "Let's pronounce a foreign word 'this way'!"

whoops just noticed i typed sensei wrong (was in a hurry)
I think it's simply because they heard someone else say it that way and with no one correct them, thought it was right. I don't think they butcher it out of stupidity, just ignorance. Japanese isn't the most popular language to learn after all. It takes a special talent to be able to parrot another language without messing up or having an accent, especially if you've never had any formal training.

You're right. Thanks!
True, but aren't Japanese and all other Asian languages gaining popularity? (Especially Japanese and Korean)
π: 0 β©: 1
kagami222 In reply to Myfutureis100 [2013-02-16 20:29:08 +0000 UTC]
Actually Chinese and Arabic are gaining popularity the quickest now! I think Spanish and French are still the most popular second language learnt in America (with perhaps German and Italian after). So I'd say maybe Japanese and Korean are growing fast in certain areas, but when you take into consideration the entire country, not that much.

Oh, okay. You would think that the popularity of both Japanese and Korean would be growing a lot because of so many nerds and geeks, LOL!
