In the words of Movies with Mikey, we use kaiju to try to make sense of the world. The genre itself was born from collective trauma. As each year seems bigger and more horrible than the last, or horrible in new, fresh ways, I felt it only appropriate that the lean and ravenous rat-monster of 2020 slaughter and kill the fat, sickly hog of 2019, representing the decade as a whole.Time will tell if I continue this as a tradition.
