Background:

In an reality running parallel to the prime timeline; after the 1701-D’s saucer section crash landed on Veridian III, and the stardrrive section and secondary hull was destroyed by the Duras sisters, Starfleet wanted to build an all new class of ships yet keep the design familiar. So; Starfleet designed and built the Declaration Class.

Built in parallel with the prototype; was the new Enterprise, and was given the designation D-A as it is the second ship to be called the Enterprise D.
