Angel Sanctuary - Inorganic Angel Rociel (Rosiel)Rociel is my FAVORITE character of all times..surpassing.. everyone I've have ever had the pleasure of setting my eyes on! Rociel is the younger twin brother (yes.. he is a man... a VERY VERY gorgeous man!) of Organic Angel Alexiel. I love him to death... he is (in my opinion) the sheer epitome of androgy! Not only is he one of the most captivating and beautiful characters to ever exist, but his twisted personality is just unbelieveably tragic and sexy at the same time! He's so psychologically twisted, a total narcissist who loves his sister to no end.. and yet, displays his affections in the most violent and brutal ways. If you haven't read/heard of Angel Sanctuary, I SERIOUSLY recommend it (it still remains my favorite manga of all times.. and I don't believe it's going to change ^^ ).. it's 20 volumes long however.. but you can imagine the depth and raw emotions that encapsulate this series. Besides... Angel Sanctuary is one of Kaori Yuki's most popular and well known manga series. She is the only mangaka who is capable of writting a short manga (~100 pgs 'Boys Next Door' ) that put me into tears. Just imagine the effect 'Angel Sanctuary' had on me...
Kaori Yuki: Of course.. she's not for everyone. Her stories are always very dark and gothic involving death, murder, self mutilation, suicide, etc. Most of the time, her stories involve themes of forbidden love such as 'Boys Next Door' a shounen-ai/yaoi story about a prostitute and a murderer or 'Angel Sanctuary' which focuses on the incestuous love between brother and sister. So just a heads up if those things aren't your cup of tea... then you might not be too keen on her works. Otherwise, she is one of the best artists and mangaka out there, I think. Her stories are always really psychological and they penetrate the truth behind human emotions, which I think many stories lack nowadays.
