Description
this is a cool wallpaper of Rapture, the city from Bioshock and Bioshock 2. Bioshock is one of my most favorite games and definitely up there with the best games of all time. for all you people who aren't familiar with it, it is a entire city that is underwater somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic.Related content

Absolutely beautiful and daunting at the same time. Beautiful work.
You might be interested to know that there is now a novel/book about Rapture now by author John Shirley, especially made to the fans of the game.

This is possible to do with today's technology but you are going to need trillions of dollars to get the project started

One of my favorite cities in gaming! Aside from the whole everything trying to kill you. And a corrupt man running the place. It was beautiful!

This is a matt painting by Tim Warnock
This is the artist's website www.timwarnockstudio.com/matteβ¦
It was used in the first Bioshock 1 commercial along with another Rapture painting by Tim Warnock
This is the commercial www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTyntbβ¦
A full size version of this painting is available on Bioshock Wiki website.
It is a composite image made from high-res and low-res images.
So some areas are blurry looking.
Here is the link bioshock.wikia.com/wiki/File:Wβ¦
If anyone knows where a better version of this painting is please leave a link.

I've contacted Tim regarding the high-res version. Unfortunately he doesn't have the copyright to sell the artwork.
This is definitely(!) the best picture of Rapture or even the whole game but we will never see its whole beauty.

Ryan: because it is the only place we can be free of the parasites, it is the only possible place we can build it, it is not impossible to build it there...but impossible to build it anywhere ELSE!!"

Ah I see, yes you are probablly right ^^
A city in the air is a pretty cool idea, too. I'm interested in what they'll come up next ^^.
But I think sooner or later it will be space, if they'll go on doing bioshock games ^^
Also I thought about, how it would be if they'll make an elderscrolls game that plays in our time, so you have guns and stuff, but the history turned out to be different then in RL so they still have magic. An intersting theory about such a world would be, that the magic is "limited" (yep a bit stolen from fairy tail xD) that maeans, that if ppl. use magic to much, it's just gone, so in that new world you have to produce magic...that would be similar to the bioshock plasmids...no idea why I came up with this, just wanted to share the idea with someone xD

Yep, the story sure is good and original, and I haven't even beaten the 1st game yet, but thes etting is cool and everything, I would love to see how rapture looked before everything got fucked up, but I don't think that it would be possible to mak a whole game about it ^^

i don't think it will be in space, after all biuoshocvk is set in the 50's and 60's...it is old times with old weapons, old music and everyone is dressed in those tragic old fashioned clothes...the clothing of the women on Bioshock made me want to scream they looked so cliche. the plasmids were all about trying to perfect the human body the same way Rapture was meant to be a perfect city, a utopia, but there is no such thing as a utopia IMO, it is an impossible dream, u try and create a paradise and you only end up findling flaws until eventually it all comes crashing down (metaphorically speaking). of all the people in Rapture, Sophia Lamb was probably the most correct, as she said βFor every choice, there is an echo. With each act, we change the world. One man chose a city, free of law and God. But others chose corruption. And so the city fell. If the world were reborn in your imageβ¦would it be paradise or perdition?β

As far as I know it is aprt of the deffinition of utopia, that it's impossible xD Hmm...I meant, that if the bioshock series goes on then, I just think that one day it will be space, if it will play in our world ^^
Another cool idea would be the so called "geofront" from neon genesis evangelion or plutonia form plutonia, witch both describe a 2nd world in a cave under the surface of our planet, I bioshock in such a scenario would be pretty cool, too I f they manage to get it right

"shrugs" who knows i still think it will never beat the first 2 though because they were an awesome part 1 n part 2 story about a underwater utopia...bioshock 1 n 2 have the best interconnected story ever...they need to make more games which have direct sequels that pretty much carry on where the least one left off

If there is any copyright, I wouldn't be the one to ask. I simply uploaded it, I didn't make it. but if your just going to have it printed for personal use, I would say yeah just go for it, Thats what I would do.

This is amazing. Literally exactly what I have been searching for for weeks now. I wish you had a way to purchase a large wall print or canvas. I would support it.
