Depends on which currency you want to use. For money, Paypal is usually the main way. For points, you can set up a Purchase Button, a donation pool, a Commission Widjet or you can ask the other person to simply give them to you through a link they can find on your main page.

But how do you set up your paypal into deviant art so buyers can pay for adoptables or commissions?

Direct paypal transfer is not a feature available on dA, you either give your paypal address to the buyer and they'll make the transfer or ask them their address to send an invoice.
In alternative you could set up a Purchase Button or Commission Widjet that people can use to send you points with. dA will then convert the points to cash by keeping 20% of the points and making you wait for 14 days before the transfer to paypal can be made. To set up your address for this situation you need to go to the Shop>Earnings page and then on the bottom left side of the page there is the 'Withdraw with Paypal' link. If you have not made the connection to your PP account already, it should ask you for the address and then just follow the instructions and you'll be set.

Thank you for the tips! I'm new to making adoptables and these were very helpful.
Do you have any advice, tips, warnings for making adoptables set in a pre-existing universe? (Like gem adopts from Steven Universe, for example)

You're very welcome, and aside from giving credit to the original creator, I don't have any particular tip.
Of course, if by 'making adoptables in a pre-existing universe' you mean your interpretation of them. Example: in the Pokemon universe, you can make an adoptable by creating a Fakemon (so an evolving creature that has the main basics as a pokemon but has a completely original design created by you) or you can pick a Charizard and change its colours. In this sense the new Sun/Moon Pokemons that have new features and a changed element could be seen as a 'canon' adoptable.
The 'Fakemon' can be sold without any problem, with credit given to the original Pokemon creator, but I would be a bit cautious with the recoloured version. Not that I think the PokeCompany will hunt down people just because they earn a few bucks off a re-coloured Pikachu, but I think if I have to pick some lines to recolour just for adoptables, I can pick something not copyrighted. There are a ton of horse, wolves and cat linearts free to use on dA.
This re-colouring thing I think is harder to make in Steven Universe where the principle is that every character is their own gem (sorry about the ignorance, but I don't watch the show and have only seen some posts on Tumblr), so it's not like you can pick an 'official' gem and re-colour it to be another gem. Still, I wanted to make the difference clear.

I really hope you can answer this question. I was wondering how the transactions work? When you post an adoptable and then ask for lets say... 50 points or something how do you send the adoptable to them, and how do they send the points to you? Thanks for reading this if you did!

Karijn-s-Basement In reply to RampantDesire [2016-07-19 20:28:55 +0000 UTC]
Hi, the answer to your question can be found in the 'Adoptables, I sold one, now what?' Journal (it's linked in the description).
And points can be sent in various methods, it depends if you want to keep them as points or want to turn them back to money.

Not sure what you're asking about...
If you're talking about making a base on your own then you might want to check out my Matrix Tutorial: Adoptables Matrix Tutorial
Otherwise there are the so-called 'makers', you can find some on Dolldivine: www.dolldivine.com/animal-makeβ¦
Though I don't believe you'll find that many of 'original' species, most OS artists like to design their own species and keep the bases private.

If you pick 'Premium Content' when submitting a deviation, it lets you put a purchase button on the deviation itself. That way you can convert points back to money, but if you're looking for just points, then the classic way through the mainpage is preferrable since dA takes 20% of your points for the conversion back to money.

1st, thank you for these info on adoptables, but, i am still confused on how to sell them. If you can explain how to sell one (using points) that would be really appreciated. thank you ^-^

Here's the first one of a series of Journals I wrote on the subject of Adoptables: Adoptables, Basics for Adopters
On the bottom of every Journal you'll find the links to the rest of them. Points are just one way of getting payment so asking 'points' for payment is just a small part of actually setting up an adoptable to be sold.
And thank you.

Do adoptables have to have lineart? What if I'm better at drawing lineart-less?

Adoptables can be done any way you want, lineless, traditional, just portrait, even written character concepts with no figurative art attached.

This helps me out FIVE TONS! Thank you so much sweetie!Β
However, there is one thing that still confuses me about adoptable and that's how Gachas or whatever they are called, work... If you don't mind me asking, do you think you could do a tutorial on that?Β
π: 0 β©: 1
Karijn-s-Basement In reply to Kisame-Adopts [2015-11-21 21:57:33 +0000 UTC]
Gachas work a bit like egg adoptables, you buy one and the artist decides how much freedom you have in choosing traits for the adoptable that you're going to own. Some let you choose the sex, some the colour palette, or if it's a closed species it's the rarity of the traits. Others simply do the designs and let you decide which one you want over a finite amount of characteristics. In the end, you don't know what your adoptable looks like until the artist shows it to you.

Either points or paypal transfer. Or art. It depends on what the artist asks, anything can be payment.
