This photo was taken after the huge December riot in Athens.A cop shot and killed a 15year old boy with absolutely no excuse...
There was a huge riot, the streets were filled with enraged people... many stores, banks etc were burnt down...almost the whole center of Athens was in flames

I was in Athens this year while they were protesting again for that boy's cause... I do think that shooting that boy was a terrible thing that cop did, but there riots really have no sense... Innocent people get hurt, their cars get destroyed and it's a big dammage all over the place. The police is the last thing that gets hurt because of the protests, while the whole thing is made for them.
Omonia and Syntagma are the most populated metro stations in whole center Athens, areas where they vandalize everything, making the passing through very difficult.
Besides this, lots of kids don't care about the death of that boy, they just participate to have the chance to feel cool and do illegal destroying, in the hope they will not be caught.
I really think it's a wrong mentality in those guys who organize and participate in these non sense.

i find it rather amusing that the response to a cop killing a 15 year old boy is to wreak havoc on the city, seems rather ironic to me. I understand the anger felt, but not the reaction.

A beautiful photo. Depicts the cold emptiness of the sad event. Seems silly for people to burn shops and banks when it was a policeman who committed the offense, not the shopkeepers or bankers...
