Description     They gave us thirty years. Clean up the mess we started, or perish indefinitely.

We were already in too deep. Don’t get us wrong, we tried, we really did. I can’t imagine what could’ve gone wrong, though. Maybe it was too strong a change, or maybe it was just too fast. I’m sorry, I don’t know very much about what happened. Only bits. The days grew hotter and the storms were fiercer. Whatever, whoever, was left used massive greenhouses just to stay alive. The nights were completely black; the closest we got to stars was the rare plane, and sometimes the Visitors themselves. Every year, they would return to remind us: “You have twenty-five years to improve.” “You have seventeen years.” “You have fifteen.”

It wasn’t long before the evacuations began. My parents were one of the last to leave. It was for our own good, the Visitors said. We shouldn’t be afraid. Their colonies looked just like ours. Sure, the plant life would be different, but other than that, it would feel like we never left home.

After seven years, the planet was finally barren, and the Visitors deemed it uninhabitable. Thirty years after their first warning, Earth was destroyed, and the explosion could be seen for light-years.

An hour later, I was born.

Well hey I was pretty intrigued by this! I'm not sure if there really is a "right" way to write sci-fi. It just has to be cool, smart sounding, futuristic, and.... just... cool lol!

I read Titan A.E. when I was in grade school (or I might have been in middle school idk). And then a couple years ago I discovered that they actually made a cartoon movie on it so I watched it online. So is this like an AU of this story? Or like a fanfic or...?

Thanks! Like I said, it'd probably be better if I had a better past with sci-fi. XD

Wait a frig, there's a book? Since when?

Nah, it's more like a....a recycling of a cool concept that got slaughtered by 20th Century Fox execs. I didn't have the most pleasant experience watching it....

Yeah It's right here [link]

I think I read it some time in 5th grade. Because of the title, a friend of mine looked over and asked if it had anything to do with Teen Titans. And of course me, being a nerd was like, "Uh... no, duh."

What do you mean? You didn't have the most pleasant experience watching the actual movie, or their earlier concepts?

Oh, I heard of that! Yeah, it was supposed to expand on the movie! They had two separate books for Cale and Akima, and from what I heard, they added a lot to the story.

I mean the movie. Let's just say I had a lot of expectations for it. And I was sordidly let down by awkward dialogue, blah acting, and pacing problems.

And that was Don Bluth's last movie.

Oh ok. Yeah I don't remember, really. I read that book a long time ago So it originally WAS an animated movie?

Oooh ok... That sucks I only saw the movie once and it was a couple years ago, so... Yeah I don't remember being all too impressed by it either.

Yeah, it was animated. What I hated was that it was an animated movie intended to break the "all cartoons are for children" barrier, and yet 20th Century Fox didn't know what to do with a mature animated film and screwed it ten times over.

WHICH, by the way, was the reason Drew Barrymore gave the crappy performance she did: she was pretty pissed by the film's treatment too.

Really? Wow it didnt feel like it was supposed to be an adult animated movie I thought it was for kids.

Ah... well... that is unfortunate.

I'd say it's because of Grune. He has the whole "goofy cartoon sidekick" thing going for him, AND he's voice by John Leguizamo before he did Ice Age. Some of the dialogue did it in, too. I vaguely remember one line from the kangaroo-alien girl that sounded like it belonged in a kids' movie, and it really didn't mesh with the mood of the scene.

Thank you! ^///^ I'm not exactly a novel writer (no pun intended), but if I do give it a shot, I might use this story to start.
