Story Time!

After stealing the last band from under Vron’s nose, Frankie decided it was time to move on. Tentacruel delivered her to another of the Swirl Islands.

Frankie and Lady are greeted by a small group of Krabby in front of the entrance to the cave. It seemed like they were waiting for them. Odd.

Frankie noticed that one of their group was oddly colored, golden instead of red. She had seen shiny pokemon only a few times in her travels, and they never failed to fascinate her. She would give much to have a shiny pokemon for her troupe, but Krabby wasn’t a preference. She would pass on that one.

However…

That oddly colored Krabby had some brightly colored bands around its claws. Including a purple one.

“Oh for land’s sakes.” Frankie grumbled. The Krabby she wanted was surrounded by four others. She had a feeling that they wouldn’t appreciate it if she attempted to take one of the bands of their friend’s claw. Indeed, upon noticing where her stare was directed, the four Krabbys began to click their pincers menacingly.

Frankie took a few steps towards them anyway. The Krabbys scuttled off into the caves.

Frankie scowled; this was going to be annoying. She didn’t enjoy the thought of trying to work around those sharp pincers, and the little buggers were fast too. Chasing after them wasn’t going to work. What she needed was something like a distraction. But what?

Frankie thought hard. She didn’t have a lot of options. Except…maybe… “Hey Lady…” Frankie said.

A few minutes later, Lady floated into the cave, alone. The Krabby’s were waiting; they made aggressive sounds when they saw Frankie’s pokemon.

Lady paid them no mind and flew past them. The Krabbys stopped, confused, and watched her.

For the ghostly pokemon had done something completely unexpected: as if from nowhere it seemed, she had made a card deck appear, and was now doing tricks with it. She began with some fancy shuffling, and moved on to magic tricks with the participation of the Krabby’s. They were awed, and soon their full focus was on the Froslass’s hands and cards, and away from the entrance.

Meanwhile, Frankie nervously watched from behind the entrance. She never really liked Lady’s card tricks, she considered them far too simplistic for her troupe. But she didn’t have too many choices at the moment, and at least the Krabbys seemed to be enjoying them. Now was her chance. As silently as she could, she tiptoed in.

Luckily the Krabby she needed was still standing behind the others, thus now placing it in front of her. She readied herself to pluck the band from its pincers. After praying heavily that she wouldn’t have to change her stage name to “Frankie, the Three-Fingered Wonder”, she carefully reached down and tried to tug the band off its pincers.

It didn’t come off immediately. Luckily the Krabbys’ in front were so enthralled, they didn’t even notice Frankie behind them. Their eyes were entirely on Lady, the only sound they made was an occaisional pincer click of awe or appreciation.

The golden Krabby gave Frankie a quick look, and impatiently helped Frankie shake the band off of its pincer. It didn’t seem particularly attached to it, or maybe it considered Lady’s tricks suitable payment for the band. Frankly, Frankie didn’t care if it meant getting out of there unscathed.

After a few more tricks, Lady bowed and rejoined Frankie, who had already exited the cave. The Krabby’s seemed pleased with the show, and waved them goodbye.

All in all, Frankie was pleased with the encounter. “Maybe I’m better at this trainer thing than I thought,” she thought to herself.

To make a long story short (too late): Frankie finds her third and final band with a group a Krabbys. She distracts them by having her pokemon do card tricks.

Also, I really like how this one turned out. Considering that my tablet seems to have lost pressure sensitivity and easy zooming functions (I suspect due to my current computer woes), I'm rather happy with this.

Thanks! Yeah, I guess the entrance would be covered in sand...it didn't really occur to me that it might not be until you said that. XD Ah well.

I'm sure she could pull it off, but needless to say, she strongly didn't want to have to. xD
