Description
I never know if anybody even looks in here? This is based on a photo I saw in P-Amalthea-Stock [link] I was inspired by not only the photo itself, but the poster on the wall behind her. I am not a comic book artist, nor do I claim to be. I was just compelled to do a little doodling.

Great render. I love that her face is darker then the tech is a shade or two darker than her body.

I do like to focus on faces... I also always keep a possible painting in the back of my mind, and a lighter drawing serves as a better start for that.

I would love to do more work, but I seem to spend my free time doing everything except art right now... I spent the last 4 days moving my best friend into a fourth floor walk up on 93rd, and 2nd!

I never liked the term scraps, but that is what DA came up with. I tend to use that area simply for sketches.

*scambers to my reference books*
His name is Hajime Sorayama (how could I forget ) He did/and maybe continuing a series of what he termed Sexy Robots and another one he calls Gynoids (sexy half women/sexy half robot cyborgs). His offical site is not too good, the images are way too small to fully enjoy though it does show some of his best work. Best to Google him, crack open a cold one, sit back, and enjoy.

I should have known who you were talking about. I have seen his work on Heavy Metal covers for years. Another byproduct of spending too much time in a bookstore. (actually can on really spend too much time in a bookstore?)

NEVER! We used to have a wonderful local bookstore cahin in Atlanta (unfortunately bought out by one of the big chains) called Oxford Books. Up the hill from the main store it had an annex solely dedicated to imports/arts/comics/music. I literally would spend hours in there. They had several branches and every one had a coffee shop inside where you could sit, read and drink coffee.
...and yes I scamber (that is scampering with a walking cane)

Before I left civilization and moved to Delaware I used to enjoy my jaunts to the local bookstore/café. Oh how I miss them. In fact I even used to work in a bookstore for a while, and we had this great policy where we could check out books, and bring them back as long as they were still in salable condition. Saved on having to buy everything, but somehow I still managed to accumulate a massive collect of books and magazine. (Never know what you might need as reference at 3AM. )

That's funny! Guess what I used to be in my earlier years.... a librarian. I know what you mean about the books and magazines. They are piled everywhere around here. It's a wonder I ever find anything.

If you are like me, when you misplace something you end up having to check under every pile.

When I find the time I would like to add color to this... I would also probably find thousands of little details I left out in this doodle.
Keep supplying me the beautiful reference, and I am bound to do something with it!

Jesus Christ this is wonderful. I love the focus in all the great places, the simplicity as your eyes move out from the focus, the subject matter and the composition... you rock as usual. *throws her pencil out the window*

Stop tossing pencils out the window... you never know who is standing under then!
You should not be tossing them anyways... If you want I can send you a pair of those clippie things kids use to attach their mittens to their coat sleeves, and then you can attach your pencils to yourself while you work.

pencils were meant to be tossed.
or broken...
er... or was that 'rules'?
now I'm all confused.

kelso41 In reply to lauratyler [2004-10-29 04:58:50 +0000 UTC]
I checked the manual... Pencils may be sharpened, writen with, drawn with, placed behind your ear, chewed on, and in some cases stuck in ceiling tiles, yet there was nothing about tossing them. (not even in the fine print.)
There are no such things as rules... Only suggestions, guidelines, and in some cases warning labels.
I hope this helps with any confusion.

You'd make a great comic book artist, if you could stand the repetition of it. Your ability with detail and anatomy and backgrounds would shine through quite well.
Nice choice for pose and model, too.

The repetiton would not kill me, the lack of reference would. I just do not trust myself enough to work out of my head... I take way too many photos. (If I get inot comics I would at least build a massive stock photo collection. )

I sent her a link, we'll see how it goes over.
