Description
This Is a model I made of the eerie train from the fantastic video game Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus, It's made from old recycled cardboard and other recycled materials. The base Is made from wood, It use to be a cutting board, the little figures under the train are photocopied figures of Abe and friends, and then stuck to a cardboard backing. The wheels at the top of the train are made from hard cardboard, the wheel arms are made from strips of hardboard, and the cylinders, which are connected to the arms, they are made from Kodak film containers.
The eyes are made from foam, cut to size and then sanded and painted red as you can see. The black nose Is a cap from a Lynx aerosol can, the whole body Is made from cardboard, then It's all been detailed with matches to bring out the lines of the body shape and the doors.
The top part of the rail section the wheels sit on for the train, that section Is made from hardboard and detailed with matches, the grill on the front of the chimney Is made from strips of cardboard, and the pipe protruding from the top of the chimney Is made from a lollipop stick, the top of the chimney Is the round part cut from an aerosol can lid.
The big cylinders under the underbelly of the train are made from four flat caps taken from aerosol cans glued together, I then wrapped thin strips of cardboard around them for the detail,
For the trailer section at the back of the train, the wheels are hard cardboard, and the trailer Is made from foam and sanded to shape, then covered with cardboard, the detailed parts are made from various pieces of recycled bits and pieces, plus matches once again to bring out the detail of the shape even more, the whole model was painted In black emulsion, then dry brushed In Humbrol bronze. The Rod holding up the train and connected to the base, Is a piece of a brush shaft that I cut to size, I glued It Inside the train and made a whole In the base and glued It In the base as well.
The dimensions of the model are as follows:
Length: 38 inches
Height: 27 inches
Width: 10 inches
I hope you get a good Idea of how I created this and what materials I used. I hope you like It.
