It's quite the evolutionary achievement considering hyenas are in no way related to canines, being closer to polecats and tigers than they ever would be to wolves. It is often a common mistake in media to make them bark and growl like dogs (I'M TALKING TO YOU, DISNEY), so it's good to see you're willing to go out of your way and make comparisons and why they're so different. Poor hyenas get so much crap because they're so often compared to canines, it's just not fair on the species as a whole.
