Description
Okay, this is my sequel to that I did about 4 years ago, of my original character Mecha-Boy battling a monster menace. I’ve had the monster drawing bug lately and since I’ve pretty much neglected old Mecha for the past few years, so I set out a mission to get a new pic going. I really wanted to make the sequel here more dynamic than the original. I wanted it to feel more chaotic and make it look like Mecha has been put through the ringer. I also did some tweaking to his design, new stuff and actually going back to my original design where his chest had an ‘M’ on it. The monster this time is a bunch of I don’t know what, I guess it’s a spider, crab, meatball, sarlacc thing-a-ma-bob. In the end I got one of those rare pictures where I actually felt I exceeded my expectations, so needless to say I’m very happy on how this turned out. It’s a world of difference from the first one in terms of drawing and over all visual impact so; this mission was a success in my opinion!A T-Shirt of this image is available at The KenpudioShop [link]
Drawn on marker paper, colored in Photoshop, background done in Daz3D and Photoshop, other various effects done in Photoshop and After Effects.

Yeah, pretty much an homage to all the great robot characters.

Mecha-Boy´s surface looks much more like real metall as it did in the older picture. The change in design does him good.
The dynamic in this picture is also great. The crap-sorta-monster wants to pull Mecha-Boy down to eat him while he tries to gain distance for a better shot. The coloration is awesome, too. Great textures in the background for buildings and dust, great metallic look of Mecha-Boy´s armor.

Thanks! I was trying a new way of getting a metal effect, and I was pretty pleased (and a bit surprised) with the outcome.
