Description
And out of nowhere, it attacked. Caught off-guard; a slew of blood now coated her pristine, white dress. She let out a cry of pain but held fast to the beast’s back. She fought with her bare hands. The beast flung her from its back and she collapsed against the wall. The beast charged, head lowered, horns pointed at her chest. She was able to roll out of the way but it turned at the last second and its body collided with hers. A rush of air left her lungs and she couldn’t breathe. Gasping, she wrapped her arms round its thick, ropey neck. The beast tried its best to fling her body from itself, but failed. It straggled and circled the enclosure, clinging to the wall, trying to scrape her off. She held tight and its breathing became ragged and worn. It certainly wasn’t enough to kill it, and she couldn’t hold on much longer. It stood now, on two legs, and bucked her off. She fell, ungracefully, painfully, to the ground. Crumpled in a heap, yet her limbs everywhere, she lay defenseless. The beast charged her once more, tossing her several feet. She hit the wall—hard. Her consciousness fading, she tried to remember its weak spot. After burying the sword, someone, something? Had spoken to her, revealing a way to kill the beast. She thought she saw it now, a glimmer, just there under its mangy, thick, matted fur. Her head was pounding and light and she could feel herself slipping away. She didn’t hesitate and leapt at the beast, her fingers digging into its solid chest. She could feel it, just there. Soft like a ripe peach. She dug her fingers in and held; the beast let out a scream, nearly tearing her eardrums open. She’s still not sure how long she held on but in an instant the beast was dragging her along, staggering, and the next she was waking up.
She was alone, or so she thought. Her dress was torn and dirty, mangled and coated in dried…blood? It was rusty and black, with spots of blue. She looked at her arm, bruised and torn. Her head was pounding and splitting, and she shakily stood.
“Faire…”
She whipped her head around too quickly and became lightheaded again.
