According to Mika the lyrics are about not losing your innocence too early - the lollipop symbolises innocence, and if you suck too hard on it it'll be gone too quickly. It's a song about taking your 'sweet' time with love and not jumping into things while you're too young, otherwise 'love's gonna get you down' c:
