Do NOT post my work on ponibooru. The watermark is there for a reason, art thieves.Say what you want; this is my favorite Rarity ship. And Fancy Pants is my favorite male pony (fave female being Pinkie Pie/Pinkamena).
In my eyes, Fancy Pants is just so perfect for Rarity; a high class pony with appreciation for the "lower" class--an open mind and kind heart and his ACCENT...well...that's just an added bonus XD
Bottom line, I adore these two together and I LOVE Fancy Pants
.....even if he doesn't actually wear pants...

Like... Spike gets really worn out helping Twilight all day, and he comes across Apple Bloom, who offers him some juice...

Then after that they become really good friends, but Twilight is unhappy with Spike that he keeps sneaking out on her... then Spike gets angry at her saying that he cherishes his friendship with Apple Bloom... or something...

Then the other ponies start to know of his budding relationship with Apple Bloom, including Rarity. Spike predicts that Rarity might get hurt or jealous, but instead, she wishes him the best, hoping that he'll treat Apple Bloom as well as he treated her. Spike is touched by this, and thanks Rarity for her genorosity.

After continuing their friendship, Spike realizes that his now budding feelings for Apple Bloom come from the fact that he finds her personality so appealing, and not just her appearance. He knows she isn't as pretty as Rarity, but it's what's inside that makes her attractive to him. Unlike Rarity, Apple Bloom doesn't seem to care if Spike gets himself dirty, since, as a farm girl, she gets herself dirty too, and Spike enjoys how he can 'loosen up' around her.

Here's the best part.
Eventually, Spike confesses his feelings for Apple Bloom. Even though she's thrilled, she wonders where his feelings for Rarity went. Spike explains to her that even though he did love Rarity once, he still cherishes his relationship with her, but he got more out of Apple Bloom. Later on, when Rarity announces to everypony that she and Fancypants got engaged, Spike is the first to give her his blessing.
...Ta-da!

I am of the opinion that "Pantsity" (to coin a phrase) is the only Rarity-ship that makes any sense (in terms of personalities). I'm not too huge into "shipping" anymore, but I have to agree with your reasons. He makes sense for her. And unlike 99% of the fandom shippings, Fancypants could actually function as an in-show romantic interest.

I'd say there's a slim, but extant, chance of something happening like that. Of all the main cast characters, Rarity is the most likely to be put into a "serious" relationship, because she's shown to be the most emotionally mature. Of them all, she'd be the best role model for the target audience (as opposed to, say, Pinkie, who is emotionally much younger. If they portrayed Pinkie as entering a serious relationship, not only would it go against her character, but the way she would treat it wouldn't be a healthy way of treating relationships).
I'd actually really enjoy that. Introducing a slight romantic element to the show, but nothing heavy? It could work.
What sucks is that if they do decide to put one of the ponies into a relationship, they'll probably go the opposite route: They'll toss Twilight in with someone she doesn't like as much as she thinks she does, and the episode will revolve around her being flustered while trying to choose between friends and her boyfriend (coltfriend?). Then the moral will wrap up with her recognizing that her friends are more important than her relationship.
...Now that I think of it, I'd be okay with that moral. It would basically be a polite way of phrasing "bros before hos" so that a child could understand it.
There is no lose-scenario to introducing a romantic element to MLP.

HM...that's a good point. Rarity IS the most emotionally mature and I think it would be nice if they did introduce that element but only had certain episodes focus on it, instead of like, her constantly being with him.
And that is EXACTLY what would happen with Twilight, as is it what would happen if they DID try to introduce real romance. Not sure I'd like to ese that again, only because that concept is used over and over but then..it would be nice to see that at the same time.
