Description
kiborg-graph.deviantart.com/arβ¦Forgot to include the yet unglued rear sights (because I have to paint the rifle before I can glue it to the rifle's receiver), but here it is - my AK74 Folding Cosplay Prop with the M9-Kalashnikov hybrid bayonet prop attached. Things still to do:
- paint the rifle;
- glue the rear sights and paint them;
- apply the wooden imitation to front grip and stock;
- install a cartridge prop in the clip detail for that extra realistic feel;
- install the sling holder on the stock;
- construct a removable PSO-1 scope prop (optional);
- tape 2 of the clips together with blue electric tape for that extra cheeki breeki ammunition.
So yeah, just another junkcraft work in process; hopefully it'll be ready for the Unicon 2018 in August. As well, I'll probably make a Stechkin APS prop as well, you know - for something more impressive than a PM Makarov as my sidearm.

Looking very sweet!
Have you considered giving the RPK a go? Shouldn't be much harder

Thanks! I'm currently more focused on finishing this one, and perhaps retiring some of my older AK props. Maybe then I'll try building something else.

I hope so, too. There's still some work to be done for it to be totally complete.

Thanks! There will be more modifications, and I'll have to get some self-adhesive wooden imitation as well (for the stock and the front grip).

Thanks. I kinda got the inspiration to finally get to finishing the prop. Too bad I couldn't get it done for WinterCon 2018 in January... not to mention me falling ill at the time of WinterCon.

But now it's ready for the next convention and everybody will be impressed and worshipping you.

Or fearing me - the last UniCon in 2017, there was this one girl anime cosplayer, who had something like a simple sleek revolver, and she jokingly pointed it at me; I raised my eyebrow, and took off my earlier AK-74 prop from my shoulder:Β Β , and cocked the handle. Her eyes got wide, and she immediately raised her arms, huehuehue. I didn't have the bayonet back then; kinda wanted to, but it wasn't yet ready.

Did you know Bulgaria is one of the main manufacturers of these rifles? Or well.... was.... maybe still is, I'm not sure. Weapon factories tend to blow up a lot these days so I'm not sure what part of the industry still survives

I think Bulgaria makes them under a slightly different name, just like China and all the other big Eastern Block arms manufacturers. I actually like the design of the Bulgarian Arsenal Shipka submachine gun; it kinda looks like a tiny Warhammer 40K Bolter gun.

Hmmm. I don't think so, I think they are still Kalashnikov. I actually think they are in a kind of collaboration with the original makers? I'm really not sure. I'm not into this stuff really. You probably know a lot more about Bulgarian guns than I do XD

It is most likely the same Kalashnikov by design, only it is under a different trade name with some minor tweaks/improvements. You know, like the Czech vz .58 rifle; the Serbian Zastava M70 rifle; the Chinese Type 56 rifle - all based on the design of Kalashnikov, yet they all still count as individual weapon designs. In short, a Kalashnikov that's personalized by every nation that manufactures them.

No, I don't think so. I think the ones manufactured here are still called Kalashnikov. Or at least were until recently.
