Male!Reader x BNHA - Rescue - (1) Introduction
A/N: KiddieCat here with a brand new reader insert, this time pertaining to Boku no Hero Academia. It’s funny how I instantly became trash to this series in just a week. Anyways, here are some details to take note of:
(M/N)(L/N) - Male Name and/or Last Name
(N/N) - Nickname (So far, Izu-kun and Tsuki are the only ones that have given you nicknames. It is up to you whether the designated nickname they gave you are separately different or the same. However, I do suggest that they should be different. Upon thinking of a nickname Deku will give you, think of something cute and childish. Upon thinking of a nickname Kacchan will give you, think again of something childish but this time with a more insulting tone to it.)
(a/c) - aura color (pretty much self-explanatory, it’s basically the color of your quirk which will be fully revealed at a later chapter. Your aura color could be your hair color, eye color, or favorite color in general, just as long as this color represents you in some way.)
(h/c) - hair color
(e/c) - eye color
"What." - Lines like these are to merely show increased emphasis and/or emotion
Word Count: 9412 (10004 including Author’s Note) (Holy shit this is the longest fic I’ve wrote)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
‘All men are not born equal.’
That’s what you were told by your parents, you could barely grasp the deeper meaning behind it at such a young age. But looking back now, that old saying seemed quite silly to you considering your beliefs.
Yes, it is true. All men are not born equal...
But...
Just because you’re different doesn’t mean you should let it hinder you, just because you’re not like them doesn’t mean you should care what they think about you. The only thing you need to strive for is to move further, defy everything they think about you and prove them wrong.
At least... that’s what you believed.
After all, you learned that lesson from no one else but your childhood best friend, Midoriya Izuku.
~BNHA~
“Izu-kun!”
You immediately called out, your leisure walk breaking into a run once you spotted a green ball of fluffy hair. Said person turned around at the call of his name, and you felt a smile come to your lips as you ran when you saw his eyes brighten up just at the sight of your very person.
“(N/N)!” Izuku said with a large smile.
You grinned in reply, “Come on, Izu-kun!” You slowed down slightly in your run to turn around, grab his forearm, and then turn around again to resume running to your high school, dragging along your childhood friend with you.
“Ah! (N/N), wait! We’re crossing at a stop light sign!”
“Who cares! We’re gonna get into U.A., Izu-kun!”
Despite the fact he was practically pulled to his almost-death by his best friend and how they were somehow miraculously avoiding every single car in the way of the street, Izuku couldn’t help but smile at your enthusiasm and determination.
Besides, he was also a hundred percent confident both of you were going to get into U.A.
~BNHA~
After crossing a few more red lights and avoiding certain death, he and (M/N) made it safely (Izuku doubted he would be able to use that word every time he’s around (M/N).) to school. Along the way, Izuku had to pull back his friend from getting hit by a car two or three times they crossed each road, his best friend doing the same as well. (M/N) was really just too hyper and daring for his and Izuku’s own good, which was kind of ironic considering the (h/c)-haired boy’s quirk.
“Now! You’re all in your third year!” The homeroom teacher suddenly began, a stack of papers in hand as he walked around his podium. (M/N) took off his feet off his desk and leaned forward in interest, an excited grin across his face. From the corner of his eye, he could see Izuku look up from his Notebook#13.
“Izu-kun, you know what this means!” The (h/c)-haired boy whispered enthusiastically to his best friend. Izuku merely nodded, a small and meek smile on his lips, the smile betrayed his real emotion though, since his eyebrows were slightly furrowed in doubt. (M/N) raised a curious and slightly concerned brow.
“What’s with the sad l-”
“But hey, you’re all going to be heroes anyway aren’t you!?”
“HELL YEAH!” (M/N) immediately shouted along with the rest of the class at the teacher’s proclamation, pumping his fist high up in the air. Turning to his best friend, he expected the green-haired boy to have at least a similar expression, but when he saw the slightly downtrodden and insecure expression on Izuku’s face as he raised his hand half-way, (M/N) couldn’t help but frown.
Taking action, (M/N) took a hold of his best friend’s slightly raised hand. The familiar warm and reassuring touch on his hand made Izuku instantly look towards at (M/N), who was smiling consolingly at him. Despite the many years he was best friends with the (h/c)-haired boy, Izuku still felt the heat rush to his face at the intimate yet soothing gesture he was being given; (M/N) merely giggled at his friend’s reaction.
“W-what is it, (N/N)?”
“Don’t look so down, Izu-kun! I told you, even without a quirk you can still be a hero!”
Truth be told, (M/N) couldn’t even tell how many times he repeated that quote, but if it was for Izuku then he’d say how many times he wants.
The green-haired boy was silent for a second at first, but then a bright and full-blown smile suddenly appeared on his face, making (M/N) smile wider. Izuku nodded with certainty, squeezing the (M/N)’s hand firmly, “Right! We’re going to get into Yuuei!”
“That’s the spirit!”
And with both of their hands still clasped together, the two raised them with grins on their faces among the chants of their classmates.
“Excuse me sir, but please don’t put me on the same length as these other sacks!”
A certain loud and haughty voice suddenly exclaimed. Izuku cowered ever so slightly in his seat as both of them let go of their hold on each other. (M/N) merely rolled his eyes dismissively, knowing who it was.
After all, as much as (M/N) hated to admit it, this certain guy was also one of his (ex)childhood friends.
“I don’t really have any intention to make friends with all these losers, ya’ know?” Bakugou Katsuki continued with a determined and overconfident grin on his face, hands stuffed in his pockets and feet put up on his table.
“Oi! What do you mean by that, Bakugou!”
“You think you’re so high and mighty, huh?!”
“Shut up you fuckin’ minor characters!” Katsuki shouted back at them, the mocking grin on his face only widening at everyone’s reaction.
(M/N) merely sighed in exasperation. ‘This guy...’
“Oh that’s right, Bakugou, you wanted to enter to Yuuei, don’t you?” At the teacher’s proclamation, the entire class immediately went to shock, jaws dropping and eyes turning wide. (M/N) and Izuku pretty much had the same reaction as everyone else.
“That national high school? It takes a really high grade to get in there, right!?”
“I heard the Entrance Exam there is cutthroat as well!”
The students began speaking among themselves, “I’m not surprised you minor characters are yapping!”, until the explosive boy cut them off again as he suddenly jumped up to his table.
“I got an A at the exams! I’m the only fuckin’ one around here who’s gonna get into Yuuei! Hell, I’ll even surpass All Might and become the highest ranking hero of all!”
As much as (M/N) admired his childhood friend’s passion, he really couldn’t bring himself to like the ash-haired boy because of his arrogance, the (h/c)-haired boy scoffed at this.
“Oh. It says two more students here also wish to enter Yuuei.” The teacher suddenly said.
At that, Katsuki froze, his mouth hanging open from his loud speech.
“(M/N) (L/N).” Katsuki’s crimson red gaze was instantly upon his childhood friend, (M/N), eyes wide and angry. (M/N) wanted to smirk at the arrogant teen, but turned around instead when he felt a small nudge at his shoulder.
“Nice, man! You’re gonna be an awesome hero with your quirk.” One of the guys said, an approving grin on his face. (M/N) grinned back, “Thanks, man!”
“And Midoriya Izuku.” As if Katsuki’s eyes couldn’t get even wider, they did, comically so. (M/N), however, merely grinned at the said green-haired teen beside him. In fact, all eyes were pretty much on Izuku as of now.
There was silence.
And then there was laughter.
“Midoriya!? Seriously!?”
“Someone who only knows how to study can’t join the heroes section!”
(M/N)’s (e/c) eyes sharpened to a glare as he glanced at everyone in the room. Just because his best friend was quirkless shouldn’t mean they should make fun of him for wanting to become a hero.
Izuku immediately stood up from his chair, glancing around nervously as he explained, “W-wait! Just because you don’t have a quirk doesn’t mean you can’t become a hero! All of you only say that because it never happened befo-”
“FUCKING DEKU!” Katsuki’s hand suddenly slammed in front of Izuku’s desk, resulting in a strong explosion that surprised the green-haired teen and blew him back.
“AH!”
“Izu-kun!”
Without a moment of hesitance, (M/N) immediately rushed to his friend’s side, kneeling beside him and checking for any injuries.
“Are you okay!? Are you hurt!? Do you feel anything out of place!? How many fingers am I holding up!?”
“I-I’m okay, (N/N)! There’s no need to worry.”
As the worried (M/N) made a complete fuss over Izuku’s well-being (which was not new to the class since (M/N) was basically known as Izuku’s protector), Katsuki merely watched the scene with an expression clearly portraying disgust.
And then, fierce (e/c) eyes were suddenly on Katsuki, “Tsuki, what the hell is wrong with you!?”
“What’s wrong with me? What’s wrong with me?” Katsuki muttered, almost madly, his entire being shaking from anger. His head was cast down as he muttered, his bangs shadowing his eyes. But a second after, his head suddenly shot up, raging crimson eyes returning the fiery glare directed at him with even more fury.
“What’s wrong with you, huh?!” Katsuki began one of his well-known outbursts, tiny sparks and smoke emanating from his palms. (M/N) kept his serious expression as he prepared his hands by his sides, a mystical (a/c) energy enveloping his hands all the way up to his forearms; the (h/c)-haired boy was practically standing protectively in front of Izuku now with his legs bent slightly in a steady stance. Said green-haired boy merely watched with distressed and concerned eyes.
“G-guys, please d-don-”
“I’m suppose to be the only fucking one to get into Yuuei! Not you two losers as well!” The ash blond-haired boy continued, teeth gritting as his fiery glare then landed on Izuku who was behind (M/N), “And you! What the fuck are you thinking, huh!? You don’t even have a fucking quirk! You have absolutely nothing! So why the hell are you even trying to enter the same school as me!?”
With his anger rising by the second, (M/N) was tempted to lodge one of his attacks straight at Katsuki’s face, but he knew better than to fight in an enclosed space such as their classroom.
“Wait, K-Kacchan! I don’t intend to compete against you!” Izuku began, his hands waving nervously in front of him, “It’s just... It’s always been my dream since we- I mean, I was a kid...” At the tone of Izuku’s voice as he trailed off, (M/N) couldn’t help but look back, his eyes softening at the sight of Izuku. Despite the fact the green-haired boy was shaking like a leaf, he still remained brave and confident as he answered.
“So... Unless I try it out, I won’t be able to gain something, I guess...”
At that, a small smile slipped past (M/N)’s serious expression.
“What the fuck is that suppose to mean!?” Katsuki exclaimed, a small explosion suddenly emanating from his hands.
“HIIIE!” Izuku squeaked in fear, and with that (M/N) turned his glaring eyes back to Katsuki and their laughing classmates.
“What are you capable of, anyway?”
Izuku lowered his head in sorrow.
(M/N) gritted his teeth, tempted to launch his quirk right at Katsuki’s throat.
~BNHA~
‘The incident is the headliner of the news today!’ Izuku thought excitedly as he checked out his phone. Luckily, school passed by as fast as usual and now the green-haired boy was collecting his things and was on his way home. However, just as he was about to pick up his notebook, a tan hand suddenly snatched it away from him.
“K-Kacchan!” Izuku squeaked at the sight of his bully.
“I still have a lot to settle with you, Deku.” The ash blonde said, waving the small notebook in his hand. “What the hell is this?” He asked, glancing at the object in his hand.
“I-it’s nothing! Give it back, Kacchan!” The greenet demanded, standing up from his chair to try and get back his notebook, only for Katsuki to step away within arms reach. Raising a brow, the ash blonde read the title and scowled.
“For the future? Are you fucking serious?” And with that, he put both palms on each side of the notebook and activated his quirk.
“UWAH!” Izuku could only stare devastatingly at his now burnt notebook. It got even worse when Katsuki threw it out the window. ‘This is just too cruel...’
“You know, they say that it’s possible to determine who will be the first ranked hero at the start of the year.” Katsuki began with an eerie smile, the corner of his lips twitching as if he was restraining himself from blowing up here and now. “And I’ll be the first! AND the only one from this shabby school! And since I’m a perfectionist too, I want those who claim the title of “One who seeks to continue his studies in U.A.” have a certain dignity.” And with an eerie smile, Katsuki laid his hand on Izuku’s shoulder, smoke emanating from his hand and instantly giving the latter shivers despite the searing touch. “So for the moment, why don’t you forget the idea of entering Yuuei, you fucking nerd.”
With that, Katsuki turned and left, his two lackeys following behind him.
“Hey, at least try to speak up.” One of them said mockingly.
“He can’t.” Katsuki replied for him, “It’s so pathetic that even in his third year he still can’t see things as the way they are.” Before opening the door however, he stopped and glanced at Izuku, a small smile on his face, “Oh yeah, I forgot, there is a way for you to become a hero you desperately wanna be. If you commit suicide and jump out that window right now! Maybe if you believe hard enough, you’ll get a quirk in another life!” He finished with a cackle, accompanied with the laughs of his two companions.
Clenching his fists angrily, Izuku turned on his heel to face his childhood friend/bully with an expression of steel.
“You got something to say?” Katsuki asked menacingly, an almost sadistic grin on his lips as he made a small spark with his hand.
Izuku merely remained frozen in his spot, quivering like a leaf. Satisfied with the quirkless loser’s reaction, Katsuki smirked victoriously and went to open the door.
However, the door was suddenly slammed open from the outside, revealing (M/N)’s form, his (e/c) eyes sharp and glaring at Katsuki with intense ferocity. He had definitely heard what the ash blonde had said and was undeniably angry for even telling Izuku to do such a thing. At the sight of his childhood rival, Katsuki’s smirk faded as he scowled, returning the glare with equal fervor. The ash blonde’s lackeys meanwhile, wore a terrified expression when they saw (M/N), knowing very well that despite the fact his quirk prioritized defense and was more fitted for rescuing, his offensive attacks were still powerful, powerful enough that they were instantly knocked out with a single wave.
“Tsuki, if you think suicide is a simple and laughing matter then it’s not.” (M/N) said firmly, (e/c) eyes strong and brimming with contained rage, “How could you even say something like that to Izu-kun?!” His tone became aggressively louder as he said so.
“Huh? What’s it to ya’?” Katsuki asked menacingly, a mocking grin now on his face. The (h/c)-haired boy’s glare only became sharper.
And in reply, a mystical (a/c) energy enveloped (M/N)’s hands.
Katsuki scoffed, smoke now emitting from his unoccupied palm.
“(N/N), don’t! You might get suspended again!” Izuku exclaimed from inside, popping up in (M/N)’s field of vision with a worried expression. And despite (M/N) wanting to practically use his quirk to give Katsuki’s face a good beating, he also didn’t want to show to Izuku he would be fazed by such weak tactics of getting him riled up. Besides, the (h/c)-haired boy definitely did not want a repeat of the events from three weeks ago.
Glancing between Katsuki’s expectant smirk and Izuku’s concerned emerald eyes gazing at him, (M/N) scoffed and stepped back to allow Katsuki and his two lackeys to leave the room.
Katsuki sneered, “Typical for a dog like you to listen to that fucking nerd.” And with that, he walked past the (h/c)-haired teen, bumping into his shoulder harshly for good measure. His two lackeys though were staring at (M/N) nervously as they slowly and cautiously walked past him, as if they were expecting the (h/c)-haired boy to attack at any second. Once they were sure (M/N) wasn’t moving any time sooner, they immediately ran after Katsuki.
With a deep sigh, (M/N) entered the room and approached Izuku, who was smiling proudly at him, “You could have gotten suspended again if you had fought with Kacchan again.” He said, voice calming down slightly. The greenet very well knew the details of (M/N)’s previous and latest fight with Katsuki. He was there as well, of course.
Besides, he was basically the main reason why it all began in the first place. And why (M/N) ended up with bruises, cuts, broken bones, and burnt marks all over his body. The same could almost be said for Bakugou, except his bruises were larger and he had slightly more broken bones and ribs than (M/N) (which were common injuries one would receive under the offensive wave of (M/N)’s quirk).
“But still! Telling someone to commit suicide is not something to laugh at! Especially you, Izu-kun! You still have so many things to do in your life!” Even though (M/N) began his statement with a frown, the small downward curve of his lips soon turned into smile as he brought up the subject of his childhood friend’s dreams.
“Well, so do you, (N/N)! You also have a dream as well, right?” Izuku asked, feeling himself also smile at his best friend’s enthusiasm. “You’re gonna get into Yuuei, you’re gonna study hard and become a pro hero, right?”
(M/N) smiled wholeheartedly at that, but then with a small teasing smile, he replied, “Well, it’s something close to that.”
The greenet’s face scrunched up in perplexity, “So... That wasn’t your dream?” Now he was definitely confused. Ever since the two of you were kids, that was at least all you talked about.
“Nope, but it’s similar to that.”
“Um, what is it then?”
“Well you see, Izu-kun, if you replace all the ‘you’ with ‘we’ then you’ll understand what my dream is!” (M/N) declared jubilantly, face lighting up in a grin.
The greenet couldn’t resist the bright smile that came to his lips as well. “(N/N)…” Up until now, he still couldn’t understand the small flutter he always felt in his chest whenever the (h/c)-haired boy encouraged him and cheered him on, but it always made his day and made him forget all the bad things in life.
“Oh, (N/N), look at the time! Let’s go home.” Izuku said, slinging his bag over his shoulders.
“I’m sorry, Izu-kun!” (M/N) suddenly apologized out of nowhere, eyes truly apologetic and slightly downtrodden. Before Izuku could ask, the (h/c)-haired continued, “You see, that’s why I’m here. Apparently, the school had to let me deal with a few things from my fight with Kacchan.”
“Eh? But that was weeks ago, are the teachers still not over it yet?”
“I guess they’re not.” A shrug. “Anyway, I still have a few things I have to do so you can go on ahead without me.”
“Are you sure? I can always wait just outs-”
“No! Your priorities must come first! Besides, knowing the principal, he’s gonna lecture me about a lot of stupid stuff.” The (h/c)-haired boy immediately blurted out. “Oh and by the way, I found this in the koi pond.” He said, pulling out a small and burnt notebook from the inside of his school blazer.
Izuku’s eyes lit up like starlight, (M/N) couldn’t control the smile that crossed his face, “My notebook! Thank you so much, (N/N)!” The greenet exclaimed, taking his notebook before it was suddenly pulled away from his reach by the same person that gave it to him.
“Not so fast, Izu-kun! You have to do me a small favor first.” (M/N) said with a cheeky smile.
Izuku tilted his head slightly in curiosity, “Eh, sure, what is it?”
“Hmmm, oh, let’s go to that famous night club later!”
“Eh!? (N/N), we’re not legal of age to go into night clubs yet, and besides, we have to study for the exams!”
“Haha, okay, okay. Why don’t you just um...” A small but malicious smirk suddenly appeared on (M/N)’s face, “kiss me on the cheek.”
…
…What?
“W-w-what did you say your favor was, (N/N)?”
“You heard me! Just a small kiss on the cheek.”
“A k-k-kiss..?”
“Come on, Izu-kun! We used to do that a lot of times when we were kids, remember? Granted, I was the one who usually initiated them though...” (M/N) said, muttering the last sentence, which only made Izuku’s blush become even worse. Oh yes, he certainly remembered the many times (M/N) kissed him on the cheek and the many times young Izuku had to reciprocate the gesture with a red face and quivering form back when they were kids.
It was embarrassing, but the butterflies he would always get in his stomach and the tickling but warm sensation the kiss would leave on his cheek always left him feeling joyful and energized for the rest of the day. In fact, the first time (M/N) kissed him on the cheek, Izuku’s face was a bright shade of red the entire day.
“Izu-kun.” (M/N)’s call snapped him out of his short reminiscence, “Come on, I’m waiting.” He said with a wide and expectant smile.
Izuku nodded immediately, his head moving too fast that he received a small headache from the frantic movement, (M/N) merely laughed, “After all this time are you still that nervous?”
“Y-yes!” The green-haired boy instantly blurted out, causing the other male in front of him to giggle lightly.
“Okay, okay you don’t have to do it, I’ll just th-”
Whatever (M/N) had left to say was cut off when he suddenly felt a familiar pair of lips press lightly against his cheek.
The (h/c)-haired boy felt his body stiffen slightly and his face become hot at the gesture, and with wide (e/c) eyes, he turned his gaze to his best friend, who was leaning back with a face as equally red as his.
‘Well that was unexpected...’ (M/N) thought as he stared at Izuku, his hand coming up to touch the place where Izuku kissed him. Huh, it felt like it was tingling.
“U-um, (N/N)? Can I have my n-notebook now?”
“Uh y-yeah, sure.” With that, the (h/c)-haired boy handed back the notebook.
“I-I’ll be taking my leave now...” The greenet muttered, his gaze shifting from the ground to his best friend who was also a blushing mess in front of him. When all he received was silence, he turned on his heel and began making his way to the door.
“Izu-kun, wait!”
Said teen turned around and was slightly caught by surprise at the (h/c)-haired boy’s expression; he was smiling bright and wide, it vaguely reminded Izuku of the first time they met. (M/N)’s cheeks still held the shade of light pink in them but he was smiling at Izuku like he just did something special, like he was special. The (h/c)-haired boy then began walking up to him, the bright smile never leaving his face. Once he was in front of his best friend again, (M/N) lightly took hold of Izuku’s wrist, causing said greenet to stiffen at the contact, but not in a bad way.
“Izu-kun, I-uh...”
“Y-yes?”
(M/N) remained silent, his eyes downcast to the ground, however, the smile never left his face. But all of a sudden, those expressive (e/c) eyes were suddenly on him.
And this time, it was Izuku’s turn to feel surprised when he felt an oh-so-familiar pair of lips peck his cheek lightly.
Izuku was pretty sure steam was coming out of his ears now.
(M/N) then leaned back and smiled at Izuku like he always does, but Izuku felt there was something different in it, something much more, something that made the butterflies in Izuku’s stomach morph into dragons.
“Don’t let whatever they say get to you, okay?” (M/N) said encouragingly, reluctantly letting go of his hold on Izuku.
“O-okay! I-I’llbegoingnow(N/N)BYE!”
With that, the greenet hurriedly and nervously, turned around and ran out of the classroom with his flushed face covered by his hands.
(M/N) merely giggled as he watched his best friend’s back become further away from him, the rapid beating of his heart somehow unceasing.
~BNHA~
‘Waaah! That was so embarrassing! I should be used to that by now!’ Izuku thought, an evident blush still on his face as he thought about the events that transpired with his best friend earlier. With the help of his notebook, he was practically covering the lower half of his cherry red face as he walked.
‘However, that was kind of weird though. Why would (N/N) just ask for a kiss like that out of nowhere? I know he was only doing it to encourage me and cheer me up like always, but why do it with a kiss on the cheek now? It’s been years now since we last did that...’ As he recollected his memories, he suddenly remembered the warm and soft feeling of (M/N)’s lips on his cheek, and soon enough his body felt like it was tingling and his slowly cooling face becoming hot once again. ‘Well, it’s not like I’m complaining anyway...’
Eventually, as Izuku made his way down and was soon approaching the tunnel he usually took the way home, he looked down at his burnt notebook, mixed and conflicting feelings brewing up within him once he was reminded of Katsuki’s taunting. Somehow, he could instantly hear the blonde’s words just mocking him.
‘You don’t even have a fucking quirk! You have absolutely nothing! So why the hell are you even trying to enter the same school as me, huh!?’
Izuku grimaced, the grip on his notebook tightening. However, as he did, his thoughts suddenly shifted to someone else. A bright smile, a heavily familiar feather’s touch on his cheek, and a soft and soothing voice speaking out to him.
‘We’re gonna get into U.A., Izu-kun!’
‘Don’t look so down, Izu-kun! I told you, even without a quirk you can still be a hero!’
‘Don’t let whatever they say get to you, okay?’
Somehow, Izuku felt his lips curl into a fond smile unconsciously.
‘That’s right... When I was little, I already made my decision, and it was all thanks to (N/N) that I did.’ He thought, his smile turning more determined as he looked ahead at the light at the end of the tunnel. ‘I shouldn’t care about what other people say! I have to keep moving forward! Straight to the road I paved for myself!’
With that, the green-haired boy raised his arm, the one holding the notebook, and began waving it, doing his best imitation of All Might’s laugh as he walked forward with large steps.
However, Izuku was so caught up in his small moment he didn’t notice the thick and slimy ooze seep through the tiny holes of the manhole covering, the disgusting substance forming into a large sludge creature before it was too late.
“Invisibility cloak...” The creature said, it’s large eyeballs and wide mouth with a huge set of teeth revealing themselves. The nasally voice caused the greenet to turn around, and his own eyes could only widen at the creature before him.
“A v-vill-ARGH!” Izuku’s cry was muffled when the creature suddenly lunged at him, the substance wrapping around his body, limiting his movements, and covering his mouth and nose, suffocating him entirely.
“Stop wriggling already, I’m just gonna take control of your body for a short moment, okay? It’ll hurt for only 45 seconds, and then it’ll be gone like poof!”
Izuku definitely did not like the sound of that.
The greenet immediately began struggling even harder at that statement, even though it was really futile considering he could barely move his body at all now. The tight grip the creature had on him with its thick substance, and the fact his air supply was completely being blocked off, was only making his body weaker until he would collapse.
Eventually, as Izuku thrashed (tried), his lungs became even more desperate for the need of oxygen, and soon enough his sight began getting blurry. With teary eyes, he looked around for anyone, a hero, a passerby, anyone to save him.
How he desperately wished (M/N) was here right now.
‘Someone please!’ Somehow, his teary eyes then landed on his burnt notebook on the ground, ‘I’m gonna die! I don’t want to...’
Izuku didn’t really believe it at first, but somehow his life did flash before his eyes. He could remember everything clearly. The first time he learned about All Might and the incredible amount of admiration he instantly felt, the many times he hoped and dreamt of becoming a hero as great as All Might, the many times he played hero around the house with his mom, all the adventures he had with Katsuki, the heartbreaking feeling of realizing he’s quirkless and all his hopes and dreams of being a hero will never be real, and how the sensation became even worse when Katsuki broke off their friendship and began bullying him because of his quirkless nature.
Those were the bitter memories if Izuku remembered correctly.
Despite those dark moments though, there was somehow this small ray of light that came into his life that was (M/N).
And out of all of the memories that flashed before his eyes, the one that stood out the most was when he first met you.
“Hi.”
Little Izuku jumped at the voice, almost falling off of the swings as he held onto the chains to regain his usual position. Once he did, the greenet stared at the boy in front of him, blinking nervously. True, the boy was an unfamiliar face Izuku hasn’t seen in their elementary school. He had tousled (h/c) hair, (e/c) eyes that shined with an unknown emotion Izuku couldn’t interpret, and (s/c) skin. He also seemed to be the same age and height as Izuku was.
“H-hello.” Izuku replied, hands shaking intensely. At that single reply, the (h/c)-haired kid in front of him smiled.
“Hi! I’m new here! What’s your name?” The boy said excitedly, suddenly getting closer to Izuku’s face, which caused the greenet to lean back out of anxiety and almost resulting to almost falling off his swing once more if it wasn’t for the hands that shot forward and grasped his wrists.
The (h/c)-haired boy laughed, “You should stop doing that. You could get hurt. Why are you doing that anyway?”
“N-no, it’s just…” Eventually, while looking around nervously, Izuku caught sight of Kacchan and a few others who were looking over at them. The greenet immediately felt his mood become worse. He already knew what they were thinking.
“W-why are y-you even talking to m-me in the first place?” He asked, frowning as he lowered his gaze to his feet.
“Huh? What kind of question is that? I talked to you because you look nice and I wondered why you’re all alone here by yourself.” The boy replied, eyebrows furrowing in confusion.
“Well… it’s just… they said that being quirkless is c-contagenious, c-contaju-”
“You mean contanigous? No, wait, is it… containous?”
“O-oh, I remember, I-I think it’s c-contagious.”
“Yeah, that’s the word! But… what’s so wrong about being quirkless?”
“T-they said I can’t be a h-hero if I’m quirkless…” Izuku replied, sighing sadly as he attempted to glance upwards at the other boy through his green hair without moving his head up.
“Well that’s stupid.”
Curious green eyes turned to look directly into the other boy’s (e/c) one’s.
“Huh? What do you mean?”
“What you just said!”
“What’s so stupid about it when i-it’s t-true…?”
“Well… You wanna be a hero right?” The boy asked excitedly, (e/c) eyes brimming with passion at the word ‘hero’ as he leaned towards the greenet’s face excitedly. Izuku felt a familiar stir in his stomach, this boy was somehow like him. He could easily tell just with those large and expressive (e/c) eyes.
“Y-yeah. Why?” Izuku’s head tilted slightly as he asked.
“Then don’t you think you should continue being a hero if you really wanted to?”
“B-but I’m quirkle-”
“Who cares about that!?” Izuku jumped slightly from his swing when the other boy suddenly leaned back and raised his hands. The greenet raised a brow at the odd gesture. He didn’t understand what it was for.
“Just because your quirkless doesn’t mean you can’t be a hero, right? Even without a quirk, you can still be a hero!”
And just like that, Izuku’s eyes were opened up to a much more different perspective. He felt a small tug to his small body, to do or say something to the wondrous boy in front of him. And as if his mouth had moved on its own, Izuku found himself asking the unspoken question he’s been wanting to let out.
“W-what’s your… name?”
The boy grinned, radiating confidence and joy.
“My name’s (M/N)! And I’m going to be the Number One Pro Hero one day!”
With that, the boy before him offered a chubby hand for Izuku to take. “So, are you gonna be a hero or not?”
Gulping slightly, young Izuku slowly and tentatively reached out to take the offered hand and stood up when their hands were now within each other’s grasp.
Young (M/N) grinned at him, bright and wide.
Izuku was instantly snapped out of his short reminiscence when he felt the sludge constricting his limbs become even tighter his blood circulation was being cut off.
“Just several more seconds now…” The creature whispered to his ear haughtily, and even though Izuku couldn’t exactly see it, he could feel that the damn monster was smirking.
Soon enough, Izuku felt all his strength leave him as he slowly became motionless in the creature’s hold.
‘I’m sorry Mom…’ The greenet thought painfully as he teetered towards unconsciousness. The villain must have seen his hopeless and somber expression, because the creature suddenly began cackling devilishly.
‘I’m sorry…’
“Hehe, this is it!” The monster’s excited voice was like a whisper to his ear.
‘(M/N).’
“Do not worry! For I am here!”
“W-WHA-”
And then Izuku’s world went dark.
~BNHA~
Meanwhile…
“Y-yes, I’m sorry once again for the trouble we caused.”
(M/N) bowed politely to the principal, ‘Although I don’t understand why you called me instead of Tsuki…’ He thought disdainfully with his head still down.
With that, the (h/c)-haired boy stood up straight and exited the room. Upon closing the door behind him, he released a heavy sigh of annoyance, “How come they didn’t interrogate Tsuki… I guess even the principal is afraid of that guy.” He muttered to himself bitterly as he adjusted his bag and began walking towards the stairs.
(M/N) turned his head to look outside the windows as he walked. The sight of the afternoon sun immediately reminded him of a certain person. Taking out his phone, he began dialing Izuku’s number, ‘I wonder if Izu-kun is at home-’
‘I’m sorry… (M/N)…’
(M/N) gasped, dropping his phone in surprise while the sling of his bag slipped off his shoulder and fell to the ground as well.
The boy immediately grasped both of his arms, hugging himself as he breathed heavily, (e/c) eyes full of fear and dread darting around his surroundings, as if he was expecting someone to suddenly come out and attack him.
“W-what the hell was that?” He muttered, figure shaking slightly. It was terrifying. That voice and the feeling of fear enveloping his entire body came out of nowhere. He felt like he was freezing despite the warmth of the weather outside. It was an entirely brand new experience, as if his entire spirit just became scarred for life, traumatizing him, removing him of all of his willpower, and just stripping him of all hope and leaving him nothing more than an empty, broken shell.
(M/N) didn’t know why, but he had a small inkling as to what it was. ‘For a moment there… Why did I feel like I just… I just…
‘Accepted death…’
He didn’t know how long he had been standing there, thinking about it and looking like he just saw a ghost with tears threatening to fall in the rim of his eyes, but soon enough the (h/c)-haired boy wiped away his tears and took a deep breath to calm himself. Once he was all composed, he began picking up all his scattered books and stuffing them one-by-one in his bag with shivering hands and an occasional sniffle.
Turning to look at his phone, (M/N) picked it up and then paused once he saw Izuku’s number on the screen, his thumb hovering over the call button. Slinging his bag over his shoulder, the (h/c)-haired boy’s eyebrows furrowed in suspicion. Now that he was thinking about it, that voice sounded similar to…
(M/N) turned his head to gaze at the afternoon sun once more, “Izu-kun…?”
~BNHA~
“Hey kid. Hey, hey, wake up.”
Izuku was roused up from his unconsciousness when he felt a light slap on his cheek.
“Ah! Thank God you’re awake!”
“W-wha…?” Izuku blinked away the blurriness from his eyes. The low and masculine voice definitely sounded familiar, he just couldn’t put a finger on it quite yet since his brain still felt a bit dizzy. He rubbed his eyes and then blinked rapidly, and as his vision slowly became clearer, the greenet began recognizing the features of the man in front of him.
Pointy blonde hair, tanned skin, an all too familiar grin… wait…
“A-all Migh- WHOAAAA!”
By now, Izuku was fully awake thanks to the sight of his favorite idol since he was four.
“You seem to be in a fine condition, that’s great!” All Might said, fists resting on his hips, “You must forgive me, boy, somehow you got involved in my business with that villain and for that I apologize!” He exclaimed, “But it was because of you I also managed to finally capture the creature, so you have my thanks as well!”
Truth be told, Izuku couldn’t careless to what All Might was saying or as to how the pro hero managed to fit a sludge monster that big into a bottle that small. All that mattered to him was the fact his favorite pro hero was right in front of him by now.
‘I-it’s him. It’s really him! The one and only number one pro hero All Might!’ Izuku thought with overwhelming joy as he gazed at his idol with large and dumbfounded green eyes. At that, the greenet snapped out of his stupor once he remembered something.
“W-wait! Can I get your autograph!?” Izuku immediately picked up his burnt notebook since it was basically the nearest thing that could be written on. Opening his notebook, the greenet’s eyes widened upon seeing All Might’s large signature written on both pages, ‘He already signed it!’
“Thankyouthankyouthankyou! I’ll treasure it forever! It’s going to be a family heirloom! Thank you so much!” At this point, Izuku was rattling his own brain from bowing so many times too quickly. ‘I can’t wait to show this to Mom and (N/N)!’
“Well, it seems I have to take this villain to the police now. Farewell, my boy!” All Might said, hand giving a small salute as he turned his back to Izuku and began walking forward.
“W-wait, you’re leaving a-already? B-but I still have s-so many things to a-ask you!” Izuku said, stepping forward slightly. Now that All Might was here, this was his chance to finally know if he actually can be a hero. Because despite the fact his best friend (M/N) kept on pushing him to become one even without a quirk, there was still this slight trace of doubt within him that doubted it was possible. ‘I-I can’t let him get away now! This could probably be the only opportunity I could ever have!’
“Pro heroes constantly fight against evil on a daily basis! And it is with that, that I am counting on you to continue in the future…” All Might began, bending his legs and getting ready to jump. And with one push of his leg muscles, the pro hero jumped,
“TO SUPPORT ME!”
“WAAAHHH!” Izuku screamed as he felt the strong rush and pressure of the wind on his face, his hold on All Might’s leg tightening.
“ARE YOU CRAZY, KID!? LET ME GO!” All Might shouted, considering the incredible wind pressure, he basically had no choice but to shout just to be heard. And with one hand reaching behind, he attempted to pull the small greenet off of his leg.
“B-B-BUT WAIT! IF I LET GO I’M GONNA D-DIE!”
Funny enough, that thought didn’t struck All Might until Izuku said it.
“I-IM SORRY! BUT I-IT’S JUST I HAVE SO MANY THINGS TO ASK Y-YOU P-PERSONALLY!” And despite the fact the greenet’s eyes and mouth were being blown by the wind, All Might still saw the firm stubbornness and determination in those green eyes.
“Alright! I understand! Close your eyes and mouth now!” With that, the pro hero turned his head in front of him once again, trying to find a perfect spot to land. However, All Might suddenly released a cough and used his fist to cover his mouth.
‘Shit.’ He thought apprehensively when he felt a small trickle of blood on the edge of his lips.
~BNHA~
“Hey Bakugou, don’t you think you went a bit too far?”
“Yeah, aren’t those two your childhood friends?”
“It’s their fuckin’ fault for getting in my way.” Was Katsuki’s reply as he angrily kicked a trash can on the side of the road. “Even when we were kids, Deku always believed in that stupid dream of his. And that moron (N/N) always pushed him into pursuing it.” Katsuki scoffed at all the memories, the many times he felt annoyed whenever he heard (M/N) use that whole you-can-be-a-hero-even-if-you’re-quirkless bullshit on Izuku just to cheer him up, the boiling anger he could feel course through his body whenever (M/N) would just come out of nowhere and defend Izuku and the fact the greenet and (M/N) were practically inseparable, even until now.
“Those losers have been disgustingly inseparable since we were kids. And (N/N) was always there to defend that fucking Deku.” Katsuki’s eyes narrowed into slits as he conjured a small explosion on his hand. “It makes me angry just remembering it.”
Katsuki’s two lackeys exchanged suspicious glances while the other one lit up a cigarette. “Hey, uh, Bakugou, don’t get mad at me for saying this but…” The blonde turned his head around to fix his questioning crimson glare on the two.
The guy who was speaking gulped. Hopefully he won’t get blown up just for saying this, “…it kinda sounds more like you’re jealous rather than mad, you know?”
Both of them immediately took a step back when the blonde suddenly generated another mini-explosion on his hand.
“Ha? What the fuck do you mean?” Katsuki asked threateningly, crimson eyes filled with madness, until they landed on one of the guy’s cigarette and he sneered, “I told you guys to stop smoking! If either one of you get busted I’m gonna have a bad record for hanging out with a bunch of misfits!”
The other two sweat dropped, ‘Hypocrite…’ They both thought. Until their attention were both caught by something behind Katsuki, and they instinctively took a step back in fear.
“Huh? What’s got you fuckers in a twist?”
“B-Bakugou, l-look!” One of them said anxiously, his pointed finger shakily extending.
“You’ll make a fine meat shield with such a fine quirk like that.”
Katsuki felt a cold essence overcome his entire being.
And before he could even move a finger, his sight was taken over by a mucky substance.
~BNHA~
With a small huff, (M/N) took off once again after taking a short break. Ever since the (h/c)-haired boy experienced that odd and dreadful feeling earlier, he had immediately broke out into a run to find his best friend.
Ignoring the perplexed looks he was receiving, (M/N) made a sharp turn, his destination set on Izuku’s home. He stopped, however, when he saw a familiar tuft of green hair, the owner had his back turned on (M/N) and seemed to be staring at the ground as he walked slowly. Sighing in relief at the fact the greenet was in no danger whatsoever, the (h/c)-haired boy began running to his best friend.
“Izu-kun!” At the call of his name, said greenet seemed to flinch, which confused (M/N) as he watched Izuku attempt to fix something before slowly turning around.
“A-ah, hey (N/N)…” Said (h/c)-haired boy’s run slowed down to a jog until he was in front of his best friend. (M/N)’s mouth then turned into a small frown the moment he took in Izuku’s features, the fake smile, the slightly red and puffy eyes, and the small crease on his eyebrows. Did something happened while he was away from Izuku? He just hoped that whatever it was didn’t include the mysterious rush of emotions from earlier.
“Are you okay, Izu-kun?” (M/N) instantly asked, (e/c) eyes brimming with concern as he took a small step forward to inspect his best friend closer, which immediately made the greenet take a step back from instinct.
“N-no, it’s nothing!” Izuku’s reply was instantaneous, which caused the (h/c)-haired boy in front of him to slightly narrow his eyes suspiciously. (M/N) already knew his best friend was lying and it upset him a little bit that his best friend wouldn’t even tell him the truth since they had never once kept a secret from one another throughout their eight years of friendship.
“Izu-kun, I know your lying,” At those words, the greenet seemed to flinch slightly, “Please just tell me what’s wr-”
‘LET GO OF ME YOU FUCKING MUDDY PILE OF CRAP!’
(M/N) suddenly screamed furiously, causing Izuku to gasp and take a step back at the unusual and uncharacteristic action the (h/c)-haired boy suddenly did.
(M/N) himself didn’t know why he did that, but he clutched his head at the unexpected surge of emotions that suddenly went through him. It was entirely different from the one before, this one felt like his body was on fire, like he was being burned alive, which was the complete opposite of the one from earlier. He was pretty sure his fingers were practically digging into his head as of now while he practically gritted his teeth from the intensity of it.
Firmly closing his eyes shut, (M/N) practically growled in frustration when the raging flame in his heart continued to blaze throughout his entire body. He felt a small bead of sweat trickle down his temple as he did, his head hanging low with his eyes bloodshot and fully wide. Overall, he practically looked like he was ready to murder someone.
‘Just what on earth… is this!?’ There was no doubt this was complete and indisputable rage and anger he was currently feeling, but just where the fuck was it coming from? (M/N) couldn’t explain it, but the fact this was happening again annoyed him to a great deal.
He didn’t know why, but (M/N) was very tempted to hit something right now. The urge to do so was strong and the emotions inside his head were all shouting at him to just release.
‘I’M GONNA FUCKING BLAST YOU OUT OF OBLIVION WHEN I GET OUT OF HERE!’
There it is again! Gritting his teeth infuriatingly, (M/N) continued to clutch his head he was sure his nails were gonna make a small cut of some sorts. It was unbearable, this sudden rush of aggressiveness that went through his body. He felt alive, but at the same time his heart felt like it was failing him as it rapidly thrummed against his chest, each beat as loud and pulsating within him he could feel it within his ears.
“(M-M/N)…? Are you okay?” Izuku asked, concern swimming in his green eyes and lacing the tone of his voice as he leaned down slightly to take a look at his best friend’s downcast face. His hands were firmly clasped onto (M/N)’s shoulders as he slightly shook the other boy to snap him out of whatever daze he was in.
Gulping nervously, Izuku shook his best friend again and tried calling out to him, “(M-M/N)?”
“I’m fine!”
Izuku flinched when (M/N)’s head suddenly shot up, (e/c) eyes ablaze with fury and outrage. The hands on (M/N)’s shoulders were removed as he backed away slightly at the piercing glare directed at him.
And for the first time in their many years of friendship, Izuku was actually afraid of (M/N).
It just didn’t feel right. Katsuki may have stared daggers at him with probably the same emotions for the past years now but it barely did anything but faze him or intimidate him. But the emotions he saw from the glare (M/N) directed at him was much stronger than Izuku ever felt, even from Katsuki, and that guy glared at him heatedly a lot. No, (M/N)’s glare was much fiercer and more hateful. But what Izuku didn’t understand was that…
Under that angry gaze, how come he also saw a sliver of fear in (M/N)’s eyes?
Somehow, (M/N) suddenly snapped back to his usual senses a moment later, because his fierce glare was suddenly washed away with an immensely guilty look upon seeing the fear on Izuku’s face. The reaction made the (h/c)-ette boy feel a small pang of regret in his heart, knowing he was the one who brought out that frightened expression. The greenette, however, gulped nervously and couldn’t help the shred of guilt that racked his brain, specifically due to the fact he actually felt fear from his best childhood friend of all people when he shouldn’t have to.
“I-Izu-kun, I’m sorry... I didn’t mean to snap at you out of nowhere just like that…” (M/N) said regretfully, (e/c) eyes downcast to the ground and both of his hands rubbing his arms as a nervous gesture. “I don’t know what came over me…”
“N-no!” Izuku immediately retaliated, eyes downtrodden and filled with regret. “It was my fault! I wasn’t even suppose to be afraid of you! Y-you’re my best friend and I know you wouldn’t do anything to hurt me on purpose!” He breathed stiffly through his nose, feeling his heavy heart clench slightly. Izuku didn’t know if his words had the effect he desired. (M/N)’s eyes were staring at the ground beneath their feet and were being shadowed by his slightly long bangs, therefore the greenet couldn’t read whatever emotion was swimming in his best friend’s usually expressive (e/c) eyes.
“But still, it was uncalled for me to do that.”
“But (N/N)-”
“Please just accept my apology, Izu-kun. It’s not your fault, okay? Don’t make things even more complicated.”
Izuku gazed back at his best friend’s seemingly exhausted and pleading eyes and sighed, “Okay, apology accepted.” He smiled slightly, hoping to lighten the mood at least a little bit.
It seemed to work somehow, considering the smile he received in response, “Alright, let’s go hom-”
BOOM!
Both their heads instantly snapped up to the loud explosion that occurred, along with almost every citizen around them.
“Holy hell, that explosion came from just around the corner. Come on, Izu-kun, we gotta check it out!”
And before said greenet could even voice out his own thoughts, his hand was taken and was being pulled once again by his best friend as they rushed down the street.
~BNHA~
Spotting a growing crowd all huddled together in one spot across the street, the pair slowed down from their short jog to try and see into the situation before them.
“Must be a villain attack, ne, Izu-kun?” (M/N) said, more for a clarifying confirmation for the other to agree as well. Noticing that the grip Izuku had on his hand tightened slightly, (M/N) turned to face his best friend.
The expression the greenet wore was something (M/N) did not expect. Izuku seemed to be fighting a constant war inside his head as he stared down at the ground, his figure trembling ever so slightly with his lips stretched into a small frown and his bottom lip between his teeth.
“Izu-kun.” (M/N) maneuvered his fingers and fit them between the spaces between Izuku’s own to get his attention, which seemed to have worked because the greenet’s posture suddenly shot up straight, his face as red as a tomato. “You okay?”
“Y-yeah!”
“Are you sure? We can just ignore that for today and go home. The Pro Heroes can handle it.”
“N-no! Let’s take a look!”
“If you say so.”
And as (M/N) led the way with Izuku trailing behind him and their hands still intertwined. The greenet sighed, his eyes returning to their downtrodden state as he remembered All Might’s words.
‘But still… maybe a little peek wouldn’t hurt.’
His eyes suddenly widened however, when he caught sight of a familiar villain.
‘What!? How did he get here!?’
Without anymore hesitation, he immediately ran forward to cross the remainder of the street, a surprised ‘hey!’ emanating from (M/N) now that he was the one being dragged behind.
“Excited much?” (M/N) teased lightly as he casted a glance at Izuku’s direction before turning his eyes to the main commotion before them. “Whoa! That’s a huge slime villain!” He exclaimed, unaware of Izuku who looked utterly horrified as emerald green eyes watched the scene unfold.
“Hey! Why are the heroes just standing around doing nothing!?” (M/N) exclaimed in outrage once he noticed that the heroes were merely keeping the crowd in control and trying to contain the fire spreading around the area.
“Don’t you see! That slime thing’s got some high school boy hostage!” The citizen on the (h/c)-haired boy’s right replied, pointing at said villain.
(M/N)’s eyes widened, leaning his head a bit closer. Sure enough, he could see a tuft of hair and vestiges of a school uniform struggling among the shifting slime. Beside him, Izuku covered his mouth with both hands dreadfully.
“Hey, isn’t this the villain the one All Might was chasing earlier?”
“Really!? You think he’s gonna come!?”
“I saw a glimpse of him just a while ago!”
“Well, where is he now then!?”
“Ne, this is bad, Izu-kun. That kid held hostage is from our school.” (M/N) said with concern, his eyes never leaving the scene in front of them as he darted his head around to get a clearer view. “Come on kid, hang in there…” He muttered through gritted teeth. It was times like these he desperately wished he could do something just to help, but he knew that disrupting a job meant only for pro heroes could get him in trouble.
Eventually, as he watched the figure within the slime attempt to escape, half of the hostage’s face emerged from the slime.
And (M/N) felt his blood go cold when he caught sight of a pair of familiar crimson eyes.
Eyes wide and filled with terror, (M/N) gasped as he took a step back out of disbelief. This explained everything; the familiar voices in his head earlier. It was all from his childhood friend, Katsuki.
“I-Izuku! That boy held hostage, it’s Katsuki!” (M/N) exclaimed, panicked eyes never leaving the scene before him as his other hand came up to try and grab a hold of his best friend’s hand.
He paused, however, when he felt nothing but a breeze of wind beside him. Turning his head, confusion now mixed with panic when (M/N) saw that Izuku was no longer there. He turned his head around wildly, trying to locate his frie-
“HEY KID! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?”
“ARE YOU INSANE!? GET BACK HERE!”
(M/N)’s head snapped back to the villain attack before him, and he felt his blood freeze and his brain momentarily become blank when he spotted a tuft of green hair rushing towards the slime.
"IZUKU!"

'What.' - Lines like these are the thoughts of other people (M/N) can hear in his head
"What." - Lines like these are the words of other people (M/N) can hear in his head
(Note that these lines are always at the center, therefore any other lines with the same fonts as these but are not in the center lane are not the words/thoughts (M/N) hears within his mind.)
A/N: Aaaaand cut! As you can see, I’m sticking to the canon story line itself. Don’t worry though, all of my chapters will not be based on the plot, I will also add some bonus chapters wherein you will interact and bond with everyone of your classmates. They’re technically what I imagined would happen behind closed doors; just think of them as filler chapters but with your additional character development towards the other members of 1-A (everyone will be included because I love all of them okay?).

And yes, the color of the rainbow will triumph over all! :3
