BEFORE EVERYONE SAYS THAT THIS PIC IS IMPOSSIBLE, BECAUSE DARK AETHER DIDN'T EXIST BEFORE THE LEVIATHAN:1. Before the Luminoth came with their 'Light of Aether', normal Aether could exist.
2. If the Leviathan really 'gave birth' to Dark Aether, it must have temporarily existed WITHOUT the 'Light of Aether', until the Ing came for it.
It's a comic about Aether's start. I think that, like Earth, life was created in sea by bacteria that grew into everything that's there now. The same happened in Dark Aether. And even though the 2 dimensions were very unstable, they held.
I think that it wasn't a Phaz-Ing that became dark, but an Inglet that became corrupted. It wasn't a Phaz-Ing because the Leviathan-Core corrupts a NATIVE creature, not one that's already present on the meteor.

So is it that the Ing weren't corrupted before the Leviathan's seed/meteor struck and the Ing weren't advanced enough back create portals and possess normal Aether's creatures back then?

I think that the Ing could only enter Aether, if there's a hole between the 2 dimensions. They couldn't do it before, but after the Leviathan came, they were able to do it.

I'm saying this because I'm thinking that the Ing might evolve those abilities from either natural causes or from corruption. I pick the corruption part, in my opinion. It works well when the Leviathan mutated that into them to take over Aether.

Kritken said the same thing. I think it works well too, I hadn't even thought about it myself. The Hunter and Warrior Ing also look a bit corrupted, with those stings on their heads and legs.

Hmm I like your theory, somewhat convinces me....if it's true, maybe the phazom mutation created the ing warriors and hunter ings, those capable of possesing bodies and opening portals, but what about the ligth of aether divinded in half when it impacted? if dark aether already existed without ligth, why it perished when samus took the last energy? ......well perhaps the meteor made things unstable between the two worlds

Yeh, I believe it didn't perish, it just became very unstable again, like how it was in this comic. What you saw was the great Temple collapsing, I think that's normal if a dimension becomes that unstable again.
I like the theory tho' that the normal Ing could only evolve into Inglets, and with the Phazon they can advance further
